we gonna pretend like social media has no impact on anything?

i don't know if i said that but if i did please show me, cause i wouldn't agree with that sentiment. however, twitter is front and center every time these discussions come up as if it's the end-all be-all. that's whack.

BW wouldn’t be saying that if it wasn’t true so

    It’s not true.

There are pieces of s*** in every corner of the world. It’s not a BLACK man vs BLACK women thing. It’s literally garbage human beings.

The basis of it is to say that straight Black cis-men are the oppressors within the Black community

We mistreat Black women, Black gay people, and Black trans people

And above all that, we act like we’re the most victimized above all other Black people, usually ignoring their hardships and taking over their movements in the process

James Baldwin and Nikki Giovanni touch in this on their “in conversation” video

James breaks down the psyche of the black man and the effects the oppression has on him and Nikki’s response is great

    It a great dialogue

  • Jul 17, 2020

In all seriousness its f***ed up people are making memes and jokes about this, especially after all that black lives matters s***.

Like how can we expect white people to take us seriously when niggas are joking about a black woman getting shot smh

Where are black men benefitting from this oppression then

I know, right. Intersectionality can make it hard to see those benefits because they get negated by our Blackness

Though I can bring up stuff which would likely be seen as trivial, I’ll just say that one doesn’t have to benefit in order to oppress

everyone called me crazy now yall literally proving my point to a T

Nigga there was a black woman on the stream u were screeching in that disagreed with u and u said something along the lines of “I respect that but that’s just one woman” and acted like it didn’t just happen

Now meg kinda agrees with u and u run to make a thread about it. You just want to win an imaginary competition

Exactly, idk why this was made into a gender issue. Everyone’s already on her side in this

Guess the media’s just running out of things to divide us with in 2020. First it was corona, then it was quarantine, then masks, then racial protests, then riots/looting, then trump as always, then masks again. Now it’s gender issues. Next it’s gonna be something related to lgbt

Oppression how tho? Usually when you oppress someone you benefit in some way socially/economically.

I’m not seeing this to the point that black men are the white people of the black community

main example rn being that george floyds killers are mostly in jail rn while breonna taylors killers still roam free as we speak

    Nothing what the f***

The same way men have nothing to benefit from raping women, trafficking, beating or killing women

That doesn’t equate to being the white people of the black community.

White people enslaved us, wouldn’t let us go to school, prevented niggas from getting jobs, bombed our businesses, you name it and these white people have done it to us. America was built off the labor of black people. A lot of whites today are reaping the benefits off of the oppression of black people.

If y’all wanna say that violence in the black community is a big problem then say that. But don’t say we’re the white men of the black community

Is it for shock value, maybe

But sometimes we need shock value to get people’s attention. If we just say, “niggas is trash” nobody’s gonna want to stop and have the convo

Those kind of statements are way too out there though. All it does is make the other party rebuke the outrageous claim and it installs resentment against the cause. A more effective method would be to video tape and share those incidents, works for a lot more people and it sure worked for me.

  • Jul 17, 2020
    LikewhoIsHe

when you try to have that convo it just ends in “wow u really hate black women “

cuz niggas really be hatin Black women lowkey

and yet, an example doesn't set a rule does it? the same way you can "think of an example" in your hood where black men stuck up for a black woman, BLACK WOMEN have their own personal tales of when the exact opposite occurred. how can you acknowledge one and not the other? feel me?

Read my post again and you’ll see that I explicitly said “we definitely should acknowledge that.. women are a more common victim of bad things happening to them at the hands of black men”
