In nearly all races, women largely suffer abuse from men of their own race. The only exception is asian women.

Thats only true for white women. For women of other races, sexism and systemic oppression are a package deal.

everyone has a different definition of respect. perhaps something you have done within your 20+ years of living has been taken as "disrespectful" by a black women? all black women are asking for is for black men to look at themselves and correct behavior that needs correcting. if you've already taken inventory and believe that you are perfect in your interactions with black women, then where's the issue in black women calling out the black men who aren't like you?

Idk how these other men were raised but nah that’s not me. I’m far from perfect but I don’t disrespect black women and have never been checked by anyone because of my behavior. When people told me my father beat my mother before he got locked up I promised to myself I’d be better than that. I have no issue with black women calling out these dudes but do just that. Don’t generalize call these dudes out by name instead of blaming all black men.

A white woman cannot be oppressed. Even by a white man.

You’re confusing white women benefitting from the patriarchal system & racism in American to them being invulnerable to sexism

Like you said sexism is a form of oppression & white women can definitely be victims of sexism despite having white privilege

To all the kids reading the posts in this thread: this is what happens to your brain on identity politics. No one can agree on anything, everyone is offended, and whoever belongs to the most victimized groups has the moral authority to redefine words and even reality -- with the entire point of Meg's statement taking a back seat to the oppression competition.

Don't do identity politics. Don't listen to your 'woke' neo-liberal university professor. Consult with your family physician if someone you love is addicted to intersectionality -- it may not be too late to help them.

    What

Black women always complain about their negative experiences and instances of abuse from black men. But women of all races largely suffer abuse from men of their own race. With the exception being asian women.

we all benefit from some type of privilege, yes. some more than others

it's important that we acknowledge the ways we benefit from the evils of society in order to gain justice for all

But intersectionality exists, white woman benefit far more than me in this system than any black men will ever benefit from through sexism.

How can I oppress a group that can weaponize the police to kill me because they dont like me ?

If that bullet hit her somewhere else, wouldn't be no memes.

That's why people need to cut their addiction to Twitter. It turns people into f***ing clowns.

    she’s right

i know it’s the internet and niggas joke about everything but you gotta be empathetic and realize she’s a human being, not a character. you can find the funny in any situation but the situation isn’t funny and a lot of niggas are cracking a lot of terrible and disrespectful jokes at the expense of a woman getting shot by a man for nothing.

i think my point was that what you may qualify as disrespect may not be the same across the board. you brought up a very extreme and unfortunate example. but it can be anything. a remark. an action. and i believe you if you say you have never disrespected a black woman, but also realize that may not be how all the black women in your life feel regardless of whether they have called you out or not. plenty of things go unspoken every day.
