I always wanted to try meditation but idk where to start
Just sit down somewhere, set a timer for 5 minutes, and follow the breath. Let your thoughts and feelings pass by without engaging with them and continuously apply your attention to the rise and fall of your breath. Let go of any preconceptions or expectations of what it’s supposed to be and just relax into the present moment

What if when I focus on breathing it becomes manual and then I just can’t relax?
I have breathing app on my Apple Watch and it helps you to focus for a minute, I need to practice more.

Just feel the anxiety and allow your breath to move how it will, if it feels manual allow it to feel manual, however you feel in the moment is ok. If you feel resistance allow yourself to feel resistance. If you feel restless and anxious allow yourself to feel that. Just continue to receive the breath however it comes to you

But isn’t purpose of meditation is to be relaxed and feel free without any interruptions?

Yes
But you can’t force it. You must allow your negative feelings to have the space to arise and pass away naturally. If you don’t let them breath they will continue to run in the background while you do other things. You cannot make them go away by avoiding them. One of the qualities of nirvana is non-aversion. You cannot ignore them you must be fully aware of what’s going on internally. Once you fully embrace and accept your negative emotions without resistance or aversion they will go away naturally, as all mental phenomena do. I know it sounds counter intuitive but trust me it works

Very interesting
Do I have to sit in any specific way or it doesn’t matter?
What about the environment? Does it have to be quite and relaxing?

It helps to be in a quiet environment at first to practice the skill of mindfullness but the beauty of it is that once you develop it you bring it with you wherever you go. In terms of posture you can sit traditionally with legs crossed or you can just sit comfortably on a couch/chair. You can even do it laying on your back if it helps. You can also practice walking meditation instead if that works for you better. Whatever gate you use to enter practice doesn’t really matter as long as you are practicing, although sitting meditation will always be my personal goat

Factual. Though I've stopped recommending it to my peoples. If they are called to do it they will do it eventually. Atm i prob sound like a broken record
