Fergies "verse" is like a few bars and i dont get whats bad with it lol.
Monster should have been replaces with a cut down Lord Lord Lord (the minute and a half of Charlie just going) or a better quality render of Dont Look Down tho - they both should actually be on there and leave Monster as a GOOD Fridays track. They fit the sound of the album way better and when slotted in they imo make the album feel really complete.
And I agree the outro of RZA on So Appalled is grating especially after the first few listen. Should have been cut down and then have the final as an extended version somewhere else.
Illmatic isn't at this level of production, it's a 90s rap album
Nas doesn't have an album at this level in his discography
"it's a 90s rap album"
What is that supposed to mean :samunimpressed:
New user makes thread
Old user has small attention span and does read thread to find out this an old user
i have such a love hate relationship with MBDTF. i remember when it dropped i was extremely disappointed cus it was different than what i expected.
it grew on me over the years and there’s a lot of ye’s best moments on it lyrically and production wise (So appalled, Gorgeous, Blame game)
i also respect how it straddles the line of accessible but still weird af at the same time.
there’s still some duds on it tho. Runaway is mid and im dying on this hill. Hell of a life is unnecessary and lost in the world only tolerable cus it transitions into the fire gil scott heron outro
TLDR: It’s some great moments on it but prolly not even top 5 in kanye discography if we goin track for track

Illmatic isn't maximalist like MBDTF. It's sample based like most albums of the era. To compare it doesn't even make sense

I read op I’m above engaging with it

Mid might be the worst/laziest word to describe Runaway
Nothing mid about it

Hell of a Life is top 3 on the album & its a major theme of the album lol nothing unnecessary about it outside of personal taste
Its one of the most thematic on there along with Blame Game & Runaway

I like that your engaging with the tracking your own way
Ban @OP
Ktt is the only place that moans about the Fergie verse, and the Jay Z verse on Monster is not bad. Y'all just convinced yourselves that it is for some bizarre reason.
That being said, MBDTF is not even the best Kanye album. There's a reason that Graduation and 808s are more influential.
Talk about the music or get out
Ban @op while playing MBDTF
