If NPH is the Zucc pulling the strings behind the screens and plugging everyone back into the Matrix

then Merovingian is the p*** obsessed idiot that uses 50 different alts to talk to his fav onlyfans girls

and Smith would be the alt-right figure that spents waaay too time much roaming the dungeons of the inter-/darkweb and gathering humanity's worst traits by merit of that... all his dark knowledge slowly culminates into something akin to the ultimate AI opposite of Neo... this anti-christ/anti-love figure... he got reinserted into the Matrix to make sure Neo was afraid to speak his truth because Smith would immediately be on his ass hearing some lovey-dovey "we are the world, we are all The One" type s***...

Smith basically is the ultimate angsty adolescent who surpresses his superiority/inferiority complex since it's no longer easy unlike the 20th century olden days because of "political correctness"

    Damn dude.
So much to unpack in this film.

I still don’t really like Revolutions tho. The squid games bored me, it didn’t feel like it furthered the themes much, and I didn’t connect with the new characters who took up most of the screen time.
    Am I missing something there?

Trinity's Husband in the movie is played by Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick movies as well as Keanu Reeve's stunt double in the Matrix movies.

In other words, she literally married another version of Neo lol

considering how many of the subtleties in the first Matrix movie has continued to be misinterpreted and b******ised by people (red pill loser anaologies, columbine accusations), I 100% dont blame the Wachowskis from never being subtle with their ideas again, it doesn't make their ideas less intelligent or out there but plenty of movie viewers have been coded to only enjoy an intelligent message when it has to be deciphered.

Rough thoughts contrasting Yahya's Morpheus to Groff's Smith, two characters that compliment each other so well.

Considering Groff's Smith is an updated version of a program, it makes sense that he's a lot more expressive in his actions, the end point of technology is to always create something that perfectly corresponds to human sensibilities, i.e. the fear of Artificial Intelligence wiping out humankind due to the fact that we won't be able to know the difference. The choice to not have Groff do a Hugo Weaving impression only helps the character more, As we can see what a version of Smith looks like when he's less stoic and android-like, when he can be able to converse how he feels to Neo and it feels a lot more casual.

Now lets look at Yahya's Morpheus, a program that seeks to internally understand humanity, he wears expressive colors and is a lot more jovial than FIshburne. Yahya's Morpheus has lived most of his life as an agent trapped in a modal loop so when he finally understands his purpose, he clearly finds joy. The film pokes fun at the fact that there's a version of this movie where we're just supposed to believe he is younger Laurence Fishburne through the callbacks and similar imagery he attempts to lure Neo back in but we and Neo know that this is not Morpheus but its still fun to see someone (especially something that's not human) come close to purpose.

The series has always been about, do we choose comfort, or do we choose reality.

This movie was about how returning to the matrix itself is comforting. Neo is a game developer who’s totally depressed. But he wants to experience, in a larger sense, nostalgia. The experience isn’t the same anymore. With technology folding itself into our world… Putting us on the treadmill… And studio executives tryna capture the magic of your youth… we forget what realness is.
I think that was the point of the story.

In addition to being a love story.

I liked the performances of both, I just wish Groff had been a different character if only cuz the machines implementing smith into their new matrix makes them seem so damn dumb

Some ppl were really offended about program morpheus wardrobe, like wachowskis were intentionally humiliating him by dressing him up as a clown

I thought his pimp outfits were on point lol
