That scene with Neo in the bathroom with Great Value Morpheus made me realize just how terrible of an actor Keanu actually is There’s only been a couple of times where the overall work is great enough to mask this fact and even accentuate it in some aspects (The Matrix, John Wick, Constantine) but all in all, dude is a terrible actor thats probably the worst scene in the entire movie. His reaction was just pure cringe. I’m still not quite sure how to feel about the film overall. I recognize the brilliance in even taking a chance on a concept like this but if I’m being real about what my experience was actually sitting down and watching this movie and taking it all in, personally for me, it wasn’t great lol

Thought the cinematography was bland, and just outright disliked the aesthetics (the lighting, sets, etc). The writing for the characters was pretty terrible all the way around for me. As a result, I didn’t like most of what they tried with the characters (actors did fine, how they were written was the problem).

Morpheus, Smith, and especially the A***yst were the lowlights for me. For Morpheus and Smith, not sure why you’d recast and also write them completely differently, instead of just making them new characters. They felt like new characters- which is ok since it’s a different iteration and all that- but I also didn’t like their writing and portrayals.

The a***yst felt like a Spy Kids villain to me. Didn’t like NPH’s delivery, didn’t like the dialogue, didn’t like the look. Thought the ability to stop time was cool but also thought as soon as it happened that they were going to find some plot armor that wouldn’t really make sense to get around it and then not have it be a problem ever again. Also “swarm mode is so sick” should never have even made it on to a page, let alone all the way to the screen.

I really hated the time spent in the Matrix because the new Matrix sucked lol. That coworker sucked (the MILF line was the first point in the movie that I realized it was going to suck). But the sequences in the game studio were just lame as hell, can’t even really describe it I just disliked it.

Didn’t like the meta aspects, every time they had a flashback to the OG I just remembered how much better the franchise once was.

I was kinda into the Zion/Io stuff, but they didn’t do much with it, and distracted from it with terrible makeup on Jada Pinkett.

The fights weren’t anything special, didn’t really feel much of anything from any of the action in the movie. Keanu just having the one move the whole movie with that force push got boring pretty quick.

Soundtrack was also bland. Basically everything that made the originals dope was done here in s***tier fashion, while pretending to be better than other reboots solely because it was meta.

KTT so interesting cuz if you spend enough time in here you can see what kinds of movies work for other people and what don’t lol

I’m seeing people that loved this who were in the Halloween Kills thread hating that movie and vice versa.

Seeing people who are bored with most superhero movies love this, etc.

I’m not debating or anything it’s just interesting seeing what aspects of film you guys like or dislike

This movie is just as profound as The Matrix 1

Lana really stripped away everything that people thought The Matrix was, and said “No, this is what The Matrix is”

This is such a huge moment for movies

The Matrix was the perfect movie to do this with

And doing so made the OG Trilogy that much better.
