i ​feel like with the established, more creatively unique directors in the MCU they typically work within a marvel safety net and compromise their style slightly in favour of making a solid blockbuster that works for Marvel.

James Gunn met marvel in the middle and did his thing but within the disney/marvel guideliens

Taika did the same

Maybe they gave Chloe too much creative freedom, too big of a budget and not enough guidance for her to work in the big blockbuster movie machine and make something that comes together well.
