heraldthat movie is... legitimately a great time. unique setting (essentially the japan movie hawkeye never got lol), atomic bomb wolverine flashback, a plethora of entertaining performances from a strong supporting cast (fukushima, sanada, khodchenkova, yamanouchi, etc.) very understated..
My only qualm is the 3rd act set piece. I know superhero movies are scared to stay small scale or quieter but it could have been slightly less giant cgi samurai and maybe something a lil more thematic or human idk

no, the MCU is bad at the two most important parts of super hero movies: making the heroes look cool/strong and do cool s*** and making the villains strong/cool and do cool s***

Storm, Cyclops and Jean are useless throughout the movie and get absolutely punked by toad
Storm and Cyclops are reduced to side characters. S*** is tragic.
Theirs a line where storm says, “ what happens when lighting hits a toad?” “ the same thing that happens to everything else “
Sadies Jean in BND off rip is way more powerful and this Jean doesn’t know how to use her abilities despite being a grown ass X-men at this point of the story.

They completely ignore Rogue being a powerhouse. Ice man does absolutely nothing.
Rogue gets super squandered in the sequels too despite being the f***ing MC of the first
Iirc in last stand she just gets on a bus and leaves the movie

It’s so rare we get either of those things in mcu yeah. BND had a lil of that finally for spidey, Shang chi kung fu was cool to me. Idk thanos did cool s*** in one fight
