Exactly this. Screen time could go to spider man, peter job life, school life. Grieving Aunt May or his process there. I personally would have loved seeing Ned and Mary Jane life where it wasnt consumed by spider man with a spider tracker. the MCU has its own sort of bechdel test can a character get a certain amount of time without in some way serving the MCU and serving their character instead.

If the characters serve the plot snd the story arc and dont overshadow him then I dont really see an issue, especially if spiderman gets the vast majority of screen time

These are the same writers who wrote the home trilogy. Its quite fair that after seeing 6-8 hours of their work some of us dont trust or have faith in them in regards to balance

Superman didnt really have that issue, he, lex and lois made up the majority of the screen time for that movie

Maybe they learned from their lessons from the criticism from the home trilogy

Like if the hulk and punisher take up a huge portion of screen time I'll agree with ya, but I just don't know if that's the way they're going this time around

I don’t know, I think it went overboard with the amount of characters. Entire action sequences with no Superman in the mix at all.

Script was rewritten by the guy who wrote Challengers and Queer though, so it’s not just them.

Even in Superman 2025 what many of us wanted including myself was more clark. Sometimes adding in other heroes to serve the universe . In redundant ways of "dont kill the monster" they kill the monster once he shakes his head. Then they are inspired to help the world and they kill another monster of a human being. Sometimes time constraint wise its executed okay but sometimes it takes away from the hero. When truth is Hulk deserves his own movie and this phase would have been perfect for it. Punisher being here is fine as much as I would prefer daredevil. Also punisher shooting people next while next to spider man just takes getting used to. I think the dynamic could be executed well. Again I have liked it in the 90s show. Its also this movie has some decompressing to do from the events of no way home

Ned magical powers doubtful if they get mentioned at all which doesnt really make sense because he would forget peter parker but not that he had magical powers. MJ we know eventually they end back up together.

That is good but also going forward kind of want Marvel to pivot writers before needing rewrites

Maybe Zack Snyder next movie will have great writing . Yeah anything is possible but if there is a valid reason for fans to not trust someone than I understand. Its not irrational after the home trilogy to not like some of how Spider Man was portrayed. I dont care if it had great reviews . None of them were terrible movies but the reviews often overlooked the flaws because again when they dropped it was a moment.

Script was rewritten likely because Holland took a much more hands on approach to this film than any of the previous ones.

Also the director himself had a hand in the rewriting process, so that’s another new writer in the mix.

I think all those things are good while also thinking going forward writing needs to be their focus. Because Spider Man as a brand is the most profitable. Where he could do a billion with no other heroes on the screen other than himself. Really he is doing punisher and hulk favors by them being in his movie.

The Punisher was literally created for The Amazing Spider-Man series though, so it makes total sense for him to be in a Spider-Man movie.

I know it makes sense again I mentioned the 90s cartoon . I have seen punisher in spider man s*** for 30 years. I know it MAKES SENSE. I am saying its still good promo for the punisher show and character that some have not watched. I even mentioned I how would personally prefer daredevil and why

I think this is true for Boomerang and Tarantula, but I am praying that Scorpion gets fleshed out more. Would like to see him around for the duration of the trilogy + some street level TV stuff

With Destin seemingly going full purist, it only makes sense that it is, but who knows

Why would JJJ or Daily Bugle be in spider man movie when we can add more MCU heroes with that time

Well, real ball knowers know that, when it comes to why specifically the Punisher and Hulk would be featured in this single movie is the fact that (OG comics spoilers) When both characters were first featured in The Amazing Spider-Man, both were being manipulated by villains into attacking Spidey, with the Hulk it was the Green Goblin, and with The Punisher it was the Jackal

So their appearances and what the trailers suggest have both a thematic tie to the film itself and an additional bit of resonance for people who know Spidey’s history.

It’s about as well thought out and clever as these sorts of appearances could get.

I mean we know goblin and oscorp still not in this. So OSCORP NOT BEING IN 4 MOVIES IN besides multidimensional goblin is kind of baffling. Jackal there is a chance . Doing Jackal, Man spider, Jean Grey or whoever she is, Punisher, Hulk, hammerhead and possibly more in one movie is doing a lot

I truly think that Oscorp issue will be rectified by Spider-Man 5

I will never forgive this adaptation of Spider-Man for cheating of us MCU origin stories for Norman and Otto
