The main purpose of the trilogy was to show Spider-Man interacting with the larger Marvel Universe for the first time in live-action. That's something we had never gotten before in 5 movies of live-action adaptations. They interweaved an origin story to start him at a familiar point for the beginning of the 4th movie

A spider man movie should also be a GOOD SPIDERMAN MOVIE BEFORE JERKING OFF MCU FANS

"Jerking off MCU fans" and the third movie was basically a love letter to the past 20 years of live-action Spider-Man cinema with barely any involvement from major MCU characters

    No, it didn't actually

And "Deadpool & Wolverine" is an entirely different thing than Spider-Man

It took 5 years between movies change in director and the main actor openly saying we are waiting on a good script yet you are acting like watts trilogy was perfect

I never said it was perfect. Him saying that about the script for the 4th movie has absolutely nothing to do with the Watts trilogy

What are your constructive criticisms about the trilogy

I’m not saying they are terrible I’m saying that again people are constructively criticizing something trying to invalidate it by saying “ you didn’t read the comics you just like raimi” to people who liked and knew the character of spider man before you were born makes you look silly

The MJ romance could've been fleshed out more. Mysterio I don't think was handled in a great way. Action scenes could've been better. Lack of swinging through the city moments. Spidey never really feels like the "neighborhood hero" except for a few moments in Homecoming. CGI and shot composition in No Way Home was a little weak (filmed during the pandemic so I'll give it a break).

I'm bringing up Raimi because a lot of the complaining y'all do about the Watts trilogy just sounds like you're upset that it crossed over with the MCU (which was the point of bringing him into the MCU) and wasn't street-level stories (which is more fair of a criticism)

Eh, I argue it kind of did stand on its own

The TVA was explained in the film and I don't think you HAVE to watch Loki to get DPW

Brother we have the same complaints and I was at the spider man 3 midnight heckling the movie I don’t think raimi perfect . I lived the 90s cartoon which did include the entire marvel universe which sometimes were best episodes . But they felt less forced then . Vs here it’s every single one of his solos . When they easily could have made him not disappear in infinity war . Also cameo in a tv show or movie other than avengers . His solo time u want to see him being that neighborhood hero a bit more . There was no logical reason for him to go to Europe vs the same mysterio plot in New York no drones or stark tech as focus . Making is Osborne or alisrair smythe . If yoy look at the villains they’ve established and how there been used it’s pathetic

    Vulture robotic suit
    Scorpion robotic suit
    Rhino morbius s***ty side movies
    Kingpin tv show
Daredevil we pray in this movie

The characters he is crossing over with are cool but are much better with his villains in the plot as well

That’s why it was so successful . China didn’t even see no way home so this a soft reboot for them lol

I think a good bit (not all of the reasons) of these issues comes from Sony not letting Marvel use whoever they wanted to use

Remember No Way Home originally was going to be Kraven hunting Peter, but Sony wanted to make their s***ty movie so we got multiverse instead. Just one example

I think him going to Europe was cool, we literally always see Spider-Man in New York so it was a nice change of pace for just one movie.

About the villains, one it's Sony's decision who they get to use as villains in these films so that's not Watts or the MCU's fault. Two, yes I agree that it was annoying that Vulture and Mysterio were basically Tony Stark opps rather than Spidey's, but about the suits, there is no way to do Vulture in 2026 that doesn't come off as ridiculous without it being a mechanical suit, and Scorpion has a robotic suit in most iterations

I think they got to get that settled a bit . I’m not just hating on marvel . Because I know it falls on Sony too. I’m saying the products of this marriage so far so show the discongruence vs if there was more freedom

I think suit design being shiny unreal engine more bothers me in that case . I want their suits to look goofy or animal like because that’s why the universe is what it is . Genetic curses . I’m not just blaming watts just like I realize Sony butchered amazing series . I’m saying Sony been f***ing the live actions up while letting animated have freedom to make infinitely better movies ( even though I think spiderverse has faults too )

3rd movie arguably better than the first 2 as a movie and thankfully before rushing to nostalgia they waited a hour

They need to give up the rights man

Or just work out a deal that allows them to keep the animated and video-game rights but anything live-action belongs to Marvel

I lowkey think that after Spider-Verse is done, they might at least surrender creative control to Marvel (but still distribute because that's money the won't lose out on) OR involve Marvel more in their second spinoff attempt (so they exist in the MCU)

That's comic-accurate, Peter has had tech suits given to him by Tony Stark in the source material before.

Peter Parker has literally never been a famous photographer

Fam i was talking about what needs to happen in the comics not the movies lol

  • Adult comics Peter should be a photographer I don’t think that’s crazy to say
