Peter Parker being a famous photographer is literally antithetical to the character

I’m not saying crazy famous . Refer to 90s show then just fine tune it is bit. Peter exposing his secret identity , getting help from a billionaire corporation , having a Siri suit is antithetical to the character too you just make excuses for it . Him believing every man older than him is too .

Been saying he’s taking on the Kurt Konnors role, that’s why I don’t mind his inclusion in the movie.

Like if you didn't like THREE parts of something, don't watch the 4th one, it's that simple.

That's comic-accurate, Peter has had tech suits given to him by Tony Stark in the source material before.

Peter Parker has literally never been a famous photographer

How are they faults if they appeared in the comics well before those movies were made?

Tbh I think it’s a smart way of having MCU inclusion. Banner slides into that Connors role nicely

Plus it works as an additional nod to early Spidey history where he fought the Hulk (who was being controlled by the Green Goblin if I remember correctly, who hadn’t even been officially revealed as a character at that point).

Probably the reason Punisher is also appearing, who also debuted in an issue of Spider-Man. (Who was being manipulated by The Jackal btw ).

This is effectively a soft reboot of MCU Spider-Man. Perfect starting point for people who didn’t like the first trilogy. First trilogy just sucks bad. It’s okay if you guys like it, but the whole “t-the other ones were good too! You guys are downers!” S*** is lame. Being critical is not hating. We should all work to stop accepting weak s***

I like them, I've had paragraphs of arguments over it in this thread itself months ago. Nobody's opinion is changing clearly, there's no point in beating a dead horse. You guys don't see others' points and I don't get most of yours or think they're stupid as well.

Just let the damn movie come out at this point.

Comic runs can be bad too. Choosing bad runs is something that marvel (willingly) struggles with

He's saying it's antithetical to the character if Peter has a high-tech suit given to him by Tony Stark. That's literally not true since that was taken straight from the comics

Can’t speak for others, but my points are pretty clear and hard to debate. Old trilogy looked awful visually (muddy and artificial), practical suit >>>>>>>>>> cgi suit, it doesn’t fully capture the essence of Spider-Man (I guess marvel wanted to try something new, but it doesn’t work imo), barely any good swinging scenes. I think most of you going hard for the watts trilogy have your heads up your asses a little bit. Some of these points are simply undeniable and people like myself are happy to see BND going in a stronger direction for the character

Anyways, at the end of the day we’re in this thread to discuss

It’s very okay. 5/10 as a whole. Bonus points because it’s a fresh take on the character, but I don’t care for how they handled him

    No it wasn’t lol

So many flaws to the point they rebooted it at the end of the final one.

Homecoming set it up but we literally retread the same character arcs with a lack of Spider-Man in the second one. Third one is just nostalgia

It's fire. It was an alternative origin for the character. The reboot wasn't because of "flaws", it was to start at the more traditional playing field for Spider-Man at the start of the 4th one

  • I see both sides

The trilogy fit into what they were doing with the MCU at the time and you can see the sense in skipping the familiar origin story after having 2 Spider-man series already the past 2 decades. And it did have some comic basis

But now we have a chance to go back and get more traditional spider man and see their and Tom Holland take on that.

I think everyone wins no? Assuming this s*** is good

I liked how it looked for most part except NWH where COVID f***ed s*** up.

Some suit CGI wasn't good but not enough to ruin it completely for me. I'm not gonna let few scenes of wonky CGI ruin entire movies for me but I'm not that picky over CGI in general so ymmv.
I actually loved both HC and FFH suits, and used them the most in the Insomniac games. Did not like the NWH suit with the gold s***. I specially loved how much the HC suit looked like the initial TASM run suit.

I personally think lack of swinging scenes made sense to me cause he simply didn't get an opportunity in these movies, in HC he didn't even know how to swing properly, in FFH he wasn't even in NY city for the most part and the ending scene was fine, in NWH the movie was so packed with the multiverse stuff that having a swinging scene of Peter roaming the city wouldn't have made sense.
I think they will fix it in the trilogy where he's finally an experienced Spidey handling s*** on his own.

The new movies actually captured the essence of the character the most out of any live-action iterations and struck balance finally. Specially HC and NWH have the most Spidey-esque moments, I would say FFH has some issues in this regard but I still like how we got a unique Spidey adventure in a new place.
Like the whole arc: Iron Man taking the suit away - him fighting Vulture on his own, who turns out to be his crush's dad and he's forced to leave his crush at prom night to fulfill his duty - proving himself to Tony and declining the Avengers -- is perfect. This is why HC is my top 2 Spidey movie.
I don't like NWH pacing at some parts but I rewatched it last year at the theater and had way more fun than I was expecting. Him choosing to save the villains, then sacrificing his whole identity, losing his aunt and losing his relationship was again classic Spidey and probably the most loss any live-action Spidey has faced. It is fan-servicey but it was great as a celebration of the character and was a setting stone for the new trilogy.

I think a lot of people's idea of Spider-Man comes from the Raimi movies alone that's why they hate these versions so much. I actually like all the versions and appreciate them for something atleast. They have all been flawed but none to the point of actually pissing me off like some people here act over the MCU ones.
I especially hate the Marvel crossover complaints, if you've read any comics you'll see how common it is for Spider-Man to have crossovers in his stories with either like Johnny, some random X-Men or even an Avenger.
