No, but that should’ve been nominated, and it was definitely in the conversation because people were saying it got snubbed. Also that was 13 years ago, way before comic book movies became such a big part of the cultural zeitgeist, so it’s at least understandable why it was snubbed, it was ahead of its time.
On the flip side, every time someone even mentions NWH and Best Picture in the same sentence people are acting like it’s a blasphemous idea
I’m not saying it’s blasphemous, I just don’t see them nominating it
This movie is so big even regular ass people who don't like super hero movies are going cause of their friends lol.
Who is begging lmao. You’re spewing s*** out of your ass that’s not true

Seeing this mid tonight. Ya’ll motherfuckers better not be gaslighting.
Let us know what u thought
I’ve seen 48 movies this year and this was bottom 12. It’s just so lazy and pandering. The movie treats the audience so dumb and knows it will work every time like parents just waving a rattle in front of a baby’s face to make them gasp and laugh.
Wow! We found a REAL cinema fan !!!!
Pack it up guys! No Way Home trash !!!!
Go watch Licorice Pizza and Nightmare Alley!
That’s REAL CINEMA!
Not this amusement park CRAP !!!!!
I’m hearing if so many who went discovering they have covid lol I’m so glad I didn’t go opening night
Yeah this definitely doesn’t deserve a Best Picture nomination because it’s not high class cinema in the way Black Panther and Joker are!
F*** outta here with this pretentious ass take
I'd pick either of those before No Way Home, even with their faults. I'm not against comic book movies, just parts of this one bothered me. It just felt too easy.
The plot only moves ahead because of magic and Peter being a dumbass. It makes the writer's job super easy being able to use magic or Peter making dumb impulsive decisions at any point when there's no reason for the plot to move.
1\. Peter asks Doctor Strange to perform the spell before he even considers contacting MIT and fixing things normally.
2\. Peter interrupts the spell by changing his demands repeatedly
3\. When the villains have no way to escape, Peter frees them himself and then brings them all to an apartment.
?. Ned getting magic powers out of nowhere so he can pull in more fan service characters

I think you’re forgetting that one of the central parts of Peter’s character in both this movie and in the comics is that he’s just a kid.
Kids constantly make mistakes by not fully thinking through their decisions, and this movie is emphasizing that.
The whole narrative arc of this movie (and by extension, this trilogy) is him learning about the responsibility that comes with being a hero, and that he has to be more careful and cautious with the choices that he makes.
The plot only moves by way of magic at the beginning and in the middle when Ned uses the portals to bring in Tobey and Andrew. The rest of the movie is Peter reacting and adapting to the circumstances around him, and Ned getting magic was hinted at early in the movie when he says that his grandma said that magic is in their family’s lineage.

idk… it just seems like that “he’s just a kid” excuse has kind of ran it’s course. I’d understand if this was the Tobey or Garfield Spiderman because they seem a little more “neighborhood” and earthly but Tom Holland’s has seen some dangerous galactic stuff and really had to face mortality and consequences. I’m just thinking of his experiences in Infinity War and End Game… he really hasn’t grown since then? He’s 17 or 18 now too and it seems like he’d be far more mature than an average person that age because of all the trauma he’s been through.
The line about magic being in Ned’s family lineage didn’t really make it work for me either. I wish there was just some slight reference to it in the previous 2 movies. It just bothers me because I know the writers were wondering how to bring in Maguire and Garfield and thought “Ned has magic powers!” and could have just added in that earlier scene after the fact. Ned having powers was one of my favorite parts of the movie though honestly. Maybe I should just suspend my disbelief and try to enjoy it a little more.
