another? All this s***s for kids lol
Sure Infinity War and Endgame had plenty of jokes, but let’s not act like they didn’t have a bunch of really dark moments throughout
Thanos decapitated, seeing half the universe turn to ash including a teen Spider-Man begging for his life, Loki having his neck snapped, Thanos killing his daughter, Thanos committing genocide, Nebula being pulled apart slowly for days, the world grieving the loss of loved ones
The MCU has had way more mature moments than people give it credit for. There’s a reason why adults are drawn to a lot of these films sometimes more than kids
But MCU has definitely leaned even more in to comedic family friendly content post-Endgame, so it’s great to hear that Guardians 3 is going to have some of the darkest moments in MCU history
I miss that energy from the MCU

I’ve seen many of the films and I think when you isolate these moments, it sounds dark. But it’s really not because there’s no stakes. Half the universe turns to ash but it’s the end of a 2 parter and we watched that knowing everyone would be brought back so I just didn’t care. When Rachel dies in TDK, you know she’s not coming back. Many of these moments you describe are in Infinity War and while they sound dark, it’s hard to really feel the darkness because you know everything is gonna be resolved in Endgame. Even when Iron Man dies, it’s only after the most heroic sacrifice imaginable that makes you cheer. These movies are for kids and manchildren and there’s way more manchildren out there than any of us would like to admit

Ok bro
I can’t believe we are finally getting another truly dark MCU film
It’s been too long
I thought wakanda forever was one of if not the darkest mcu movie tbh, that s*** was heavy at times

Kang told Ant Man he was going to kill his daughter in front of him and then make him relive that moment over and over a thousand times until he was begging Kang to hill him

Tell us you're a mature adult that only consumes mature adult content without telling us

I mean I believe there can be real stakes and something genuine in more kids oriented movies/shows also. The MCU is just absolutely devoid of all that

Yea you’re right, that movie definitely stands out from the other phase 4 films because of the melancholic tone

Like Avatar which resurrected several characters from death? DC which has a new showrunner ever other year trying form that clusterfuck to his vision?
Kang told Ant Man he was going to kill his daughter in front of him and then make him relive that moment over and over a thousand times until he was begging Kang to hill him
I’m always surprised with those dark moments that the MCU is able to put in their films sometimes
The fact they can balance the family friendly tone with genuine dark s*** is impressive.
I don’t trust social media reaction after watching it at the premier. After the premier people said Thor was great then they said antman was great as well.

Nobody was saying Ant Man was great
People liked it but even then the only universal thing that people praised was Majors
Reviews drop today anyway so there’s not much longer for those

Alot of brutal murder in MOM as well

And supposedly Raimi had even more dark s*** in that film but it had to be cut
Wanda was supposed to present Dr Strange with Mordo’s severed head
Antman 3 had it’s moments. Majors obviously was the best part of the film, and I was 100% invested in every scene he was in
But I just didn’t care at all about the family aspects of the movie, felt super cheesy most of the time
Like bruh I’m tired of seeing y’all hug each other in the middle of a battle lmao
Also on a general note of “these movies are for kids and manchildren”
After the last 3-4 years of pandemic, recession, inflation, war, deeply divided and dangerous politics, etc. let people like what they like man. These movies are meant to be an escape. My mental health is much better thinking about Marvel movies than whether or not Russia is going to use nukes or what mass shooting is going to happen next. In this dark ass world, superhero movies bring me joy and something to look forward to (it’s not like the only thing), and I think that many, many other people feel the same.
I thought it was fine
Maybe it just seemed great because my expectations were so low but we really enjoyed it
