I think Pedro is a popular face people know and def a draw on TV, but i can't think of a movie he's been in where fans are showing up specifically because of him

Like this is his 3rd movie this summer, and 2nd in the last 2 weeks. Fans are going to these movies anyways.

I disagree, man. Just check out all of the memes online - the guy gets people talking and interested. He’s huge

Marvel knows comic book fans are going to show up to theaters, but the problem is that the general audience isn’t. Getting star power back in here as mainstays, especially w RDJ and Evan’s gone, is the first step in doing so.

Everyone and their mother used to go to Marvel movies - now, not so much

I swear nothing happened for 80% of the movie. It was just them 4 talking. Loved galactus tho

    Did you like thunderbolts

No i really hated it tbh — cringe Marvel humor, paper thin plot and I did not find any of the characters and their interactions compelling.

FF is the exact opposite of that — firstly they got core dynamics of the main 4 characters right. I actually cared for them and bought the idea of them being a family. The rest fell into place.

I was on the fence about Pedro but he nailed it. And thankfully this movie had no cringe Marvel humor. It's funny but in a very restrained way.

Also in many ways Venessa Kirby really carries this film. Her performance was probably the best.

When has a general audience turned up for a film because of Pedro Pascal? He had Eddington last week, F4 this week and the biggest chatter behind him has to do with neither. Memes aren't butts in seats

Eddington isn't doing anything and Celine Song was just as if not more successful with Past Lives than The Materialists. Box office figures don't swing because of his name (yet)

I need to sit with my thoughts, and I really like this movie, but I feel like Thunderbolts had much better pace than this

F4 and Eddington cannot be compared

It's clear that we disagree, it's fine. He is clearly a star and you are arguing that star power doesn't get randoms in seat.

I'm so glad they spent a big part of the first half of this film setting up the dynamics of the characters. That made the conflict more engaging for me. I actually bought the idea of them as a family which I can't say for Thunderbolt — everything about it felt forced.

Definitely loved the character development aspect of this film...aside from Ben who only had a brief comedic role unfortunately

So two films he starred in this summer can't be compared to another film he stars in? Okay man lol

I like bro he just hasn't had great box office results yet. That likely changes with this and the next two Avengers, but of course it would. He's not the Avengers draw

  • Jul 25, 2025

Galactus in full ratio IMAX was glorious. Almost felt robbed with how few of those scenes we got. They def exaggerated how often they'd expand

    F4 with a $200M+ budget vs Eddington with a $25M budget

    What are we talking about?

Why would you mention budgets when it doesn't help your point? He can't elevate the $25M budget, and F4 isn't going to do spectacularly well for a budget of that size either. What's the draw?

IMO a draw gets butts in seats regardless of budgets. You calculate accordingly to what was poured into the project. Every trending celebrity is not a draw. The bar is high and only few touch it these days

  • Jul 25, 2025

The budgets serve as a point of reference as to why these films are not comparable

    We don’t agree - it’s fine, respect 🙏

Full thoughts in the spoilers thread but unfortunately, a lot of things were missing from this film that if they were included, could have put this film into the upper-upper echelon of MCU films. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't disappointed.

In conclusion, this could arguably have been a top 5 MCU movie if the things I mentioned hadn’t been missing. Still, it’s a great representation of the Fantastic Four and most importantly, gives us actual character development, something that was seemingly forgotten at Marvel over the last few years. I’m excited to see them not only together again, but also separately as they interact with our other favorite characters.
