Can’t say I’ve seen a good movie come out of Hollywood this year. Maybe Da 5 Bloods was the last one, but s*** is a drought. You might expect one or two a year at most nowadays and even then it’s tainted hard by a number of factors related to forcing to adhere to a studios standards

There's plenty of great movies coming out every year if you're actually willing to look for them lol, of course if you wanna get spoon fed you're gonna be disappointed

You either have terrible taste (which you’ve shown with the Michael Bay hype) or don’t know where to look. Because Da 5 bloods definitely isn’t the last good movie to come out. I don’t think you watch as many movies as you want us to believe. This year alone I’ve seen plenty of great movies, wether they be international or indie. Do you even participate in Film Festivals that showcase these films you want? You paying money and supporting? What are you doing to help cinema besides complain about MCU? That’s a genuine question because during discussions of indie films, I hardly see you around, but let it be a MCU film and you right there.

So the real question is why do you spend more time hating the MCU rather than supporting films that are of true art (based on your definition)?

I don’t consider most indie to be good either. I don’t participate in film festivals but I will support the movie whether it drops in theaters or is available to buy. Just over this year and 2020, I watched S***house, Hunter Hunter, The Half of It, Possessor, Sputnik, Palm Springs, Minari, Sound of Metal, Better Days, Color Out of Space, the Platform, Martin Eden, Kajillionaire, etc and liked maybe a fraction of them

Too many filmmakers nowadays think either the social justice message is enough to outweigh the preachy tone deaf writing and amateur direction or think simply emulating better filmmakers of the past is enough.
