Make shows that are quality, involve characters you actually have a plan for, and are important to the larger narrative at hand.

I just wish they never get our hopes up with the Wonder Man season 2 announcement, everyone had already thought it was gonna just be a limited series

A Ms Marvel season 2 that doesn’t completely fall off the rails after just one episode would be nice

Then I don’t understand why cancel Wonder Man. Regardless of ratings, if you get Emmy noms you try another season to see if awards improve viewership

Wonder Man in a cost conscious and strategic refocusing had to be eliminated. Money>Awards in the brass’ minds. Of they still have to deliver content, I’d rather they give content that makes people want to watch. It’s a way to break the “homework” notion with Disney+

“The Great” at Hulu willed itself to 3 seasons due to award noms while it struggled with ratings but I guess it was a different time

    Nah

Give us inconsequential street level filler shenanigans

Maybe even a show for all of the prior Netflix show characters + new smaller characters and arcs primarily led by Bernthal Punisher

They squeezed all the moisture out of the towel of getting us to care about large superhero universes where ultimately the same or close enough s*** is gonna be explored through Marvel & DC or even s*** like The Boys and Invincible

Gotta stop trying to sell us on events, cameoslop, fanservice, connected universes etc and just make unique good s*** that can stand on its own

Streaming as a whole lowkey may do this to all genre’s. They want to squeeze as much worth as possible out of everything

Wonder man is a mutant and deals with the DODC too it fits right into the mutant saga

I'll come back to this in 5-6 years if this site still exists or I'm free enough to still care about this stuff

    You’re absolutely right

Lol not even having Beast or some s*** in the first X Men movie is an odd choice

X Men as recognizable characters you can build the next phase of the MCU around only really applies to Wolverine, Mystique & Gambit ngl and then Cyclops is the defacto leader Captain America type when Wolverine ain’t around lol maybe Storm too if you connect her to Wakanda

Pretty much They gotta find a way to get to Wolverine Gambit Bishop Cable Nightcrawler Mystique etc fast af for us to give a f*** fr lol. Hopefully they learn this fast and the second one gonna be more like the 90’s cartoon/Evolution on screen lol

The casting isn’t finished. We don’t know that Beast isn’t in it yet.

They need to evolve the way they deliver content in the new era. Give us an important X-Men tv series. Model your deliver after comic lines. I hope they don’t think they can have us wait 2-3 years for installments. Don’t drag out the narrative development. There is so much content to explore and characters at their disposal, they don’t have to be so slow.

I agree with the cameo spamming. They have to work towards events, but you can tell the stories required in unique fashions.

I think the "rationale" here is that it being a superhero property it's more expensive than The Great so they want it to be a ratings success.

At the same time, Daredevil hasn't cracked the Nielsen charts at all and we're on Season 3, unless Season 3 is the last one.

Isn't the overarching issue that shows became homework though? Like they shouldn't be "important" to the larger narrative imo, they should be optional elements to maybe learn more, but the MCU film audiences doesn't neeeeed to see before the next big film

Introducing characters on TV hurt the potential of the films they then went on too as well. Like maybe they do film stuff and have a side-story on TV

Burying storylines they want to prioritize (whether they should or shouldn’t be) in shows featuring useless characters is one problem.

I think the idea of the shows being “homework” is born as a large effect from the more streamlined Infinity Saga. Less content back then made it easier to onboard or catch up. Having that simplicity has created the idea that now when they had so much content, watching all that is needed. It’s not. There’s no reason for someone to watch She-Hulk, Ironheart, Moon Knight, Agatha, Hawkeye, Wonder Man, Werewolf by Night. People see how much they made and think all of it is necessary.

What I think they should do is lean into that collective mindset and make the shows rewarding for your investment not only in quality of entertainment, but in narrative. Juice the shows with big actors and plots. Make it must see like GOT and The Walking Dead and Stranger Things. If you’re going to spend hundreds of millions on She-Hulk, go to the bosses with an actually important tv show plot and get the $225 million and put it to better use.
