Honestly what does the DCU hope to do? Outside of Batman and maybe Superman, could they even reach the heights of the mcu? I mean the novelty of the shared universe is done and the multiverse concept is beaten down. What could they do differently?

Even if they pivot to doom theyre probably still gonna do Secret Wars which means we’re stuck in cameo hell regardless

is secrete wars just the same ppl fighting each other from other universes or something ?

As much flack they get for “villain has same powers as good guy” thing I don’t think I’d feel anything with 3 versions of human torch sfighting each other when 2 of them is the same actor from another marvel property

There's two different Secret Wars in Marvel Comics

The first happened in the 1980s in which The Beyonder captured chosen heroes and villains from Earth and put them on Battleworld. He tasked them with fighting each other kind o flike for sport. That goes until they end up escaping. This story is famous for being the first story to feature Spider-Man encountering the symbiote and getting the black suit.

The second Secret Wars (there is a Secret Wars II but that's more in line with the 80s one) from 2015 is the one that the MCU seems to be setting up. In this one the multiverse is collapsing and Doctor Doom and Reed Richards are the focal points of the story. The main two universes in this story are the main 616 continuity and the Ultimate Comics continuity (in which Miles Morales originates from). These two universes collide in an incursion and the fragments of both worlds end up creating this version of Battleworld. The main villain of this one ends up being God Emperor Doom who more or less takes control of Battleworld. It's really like lets team up to make sure as many of us survive

Its more of a fight for survival and isnt as multiversal as the film version seems to be aiming for, but the modern version of the story from 2015 that features Doom has multiversal collapse as a fundamental part of the story.

It seems like the mcu version was gonna be a mix of both with some extra Kang stuff which is why all this variant talk is so prevalent in this story so far. I dont remember the concept of “variants” playing a major role in either comic storyline outside of tie ins and subplots

I think the appeal of Secret Wars to Disney outside of the in-universe narrative is the opportunity to out-spectacle Thanos and Endgame, “Whats better than the destruction of one universe? All universes!” while also seizing the opportunity for a grand reset. The cameos is just a cherry on top that came with the acquisition of Fox and the renewal of the Sony deal.

even before the MCU started incorporating the multiverse, I thought conceptually it was a bad idea. and that has proven to be the case. i understand it's a big part of the source material but that doesnt mean its good for hollywood movies. it cheapens everything and results in complicated and stupid plot points.

i would have so much preferred to just kill off or retire the main avengers cast (with a few exceptions of people who stick around), and gone to the new generation (shang chi, black widow 2.0, etc) while transitioning into the upcoming new big players (mutants, fantastic 4, blade).

    multiverse STINKS.

you could tell me that captain marvel dies in The Marvels and while i would have previously been like "damn thats wild they killed her off" now i would be like "oh well there are a million other versions of her and i'm sure we'll see her on the secret wars battle dome"

    cheapens everything.

It sounds like I was right... Dr Doom incoming

    https://twitter.com/CultureCrave/status/1719746044404342911

I mean they are only thinking of doing that because of the Majors drama. Doom was always going to be the next villian after Kang, they were just waiting till F4 came in the picture

Marvel is just in panic mode now and wants to rush the story

Doom’s introduction is going to feel so shoehorned and rushed if they are planning on introducing him soon.
We still need to get Kang Dynasty AND F4 first

I think the Captain America branding is strong enough to have even the casuals come back. Then we have Anthony Mackie stepping into that role as a black man, + Harrison Ford (although Indiana Jones did s***), the Avengers bridge that is clear.

I can be wrong but I feel like this is the safest bet for success for Marvel right now (outside of Spider-Man)

Marvel already knows it will flop and have already told us why in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. THEY will not accept a black Captain America

I been saying they should've ended the existing MCU after Infinity War and then just reboot completely with Xmen and F4. Would've been epic having Thanos win instead of shedding cap, widow and tony

That’s exactly how I feel. It’s 100% going to be worse for them if they get rid of Kang now, and try and rush Doom.

That means they’d have to hurry up and restructure every plan they have for the next 5 years.
It would be DCEU levels of shambles

I feel they just introduced way too much new s*** too quickly with the addition of Disney+ shows

So funny seeing this Marvel s*** and them scrambling trying to figure out what to do.

Like, f*** it. Pimp out Spider-Man at this point dude. He’s Marvel’s golden goose and you wouldn’t even think it when it comes to the MCU.
