Movie could start with them messing around with time travel tech. Accident happens, they get powers and end up trapped in the 60s. Galactus comes to devour Earth and, potentially being the only superheroes at the time, they have to fight him off. They win, and the movie ends with them getting back to the present.

And then at some future point Galactus could come back bigger and more powerful, having eaten so many other planets n s***. FF can't stop him alone, yada yada
