movie was like a 3.5/5 to me still a must see because the acting, characters, editing, and music are all stellar and Timmy gave one of the truly great clear out performances i’ve seen since like Tàr

it’s interesting how unlikeable the main roles have been in his films since Good Time (still need to watch heaven knows what and the other old ones)

i was honestly expecting a different take on the “man who really wants something and will f*** over anyone to get to it” character

i love the ending tho. kinda abrupt and maybe a little rushed?? but that look back and forth between the kid made me tear up. felt like maybe that kid was all he needed to bring him back down to earth

Tyler was too much like Tyler for me to separate him from the character
All the scenes with Gwyneth Paltrow & Timmy were great

And I’ll say Smashing Machine felt like a mess compared to this

still haven’t seen smashing machine but i’m shocked at just how much Marty feels like UG and good time. i wonder which elements carried over to Benny’s solo work…
