Idk man I’ve felt that way about PTA movies for a few years now but this one clicked for me.
I do consider myself a “cinephile” but not a blind trend follower that rates movies on different scales based on a director’s filmography. If it’s bad, it’s bad regardless of who made it and vice versa. I personally think EEAAO is an awful movie but I blame the covid era and lack of quality movies being made at the time for the inflation of that movies impact.
How did you feel about Bugonia? I feel like that’s a worthy best picture contender but some would probably disagree. I think Marty is a best picture contender and wouldn’t be mad if it won either. Sinners is just good imo, big difference between good and best.
Tbh this was probably the strongest year for film in the 2020s. Been a while since people felt this strong about movies. I like it. Shoutout to Coogler though, he has a lot to do with the average joe being more invested in award season this time around. Same with Tim’s press run. Movies are back.

I actually think it would be funny if bugonia came out of nowhere and won honestly. Especially because I liked it more then OBAA.

Call me crazy but I think that’s his best performance yet. Insane that he didn’t get a nom for it.
They usually like to cast him in roles that are a well off, probably raised the right way guy in the suburbs who just isn’t the nicest person. It works but this role where he’s a full blown conspiracy nut with nothing to his name feels more authentic to his look lmao.
