I think the intent is there for sure even though he’s quite clearly a horrible influence on his bro

Howie is definitely the most self centered of the 3 but I think Connie is the most deplorable

In span of Good Time runtime Connie

*gaslights his brother into thinking the therapists are manipulating him

*influences his mentally challenged brother to rob a bank with him (in blackface)

*tries to bully his gf into using her mom’s credit card for him

*almost rapes a 16 year old girl as a diversion tactic

*beats the s*** out of a security guard, pours an enormous dose of acid down his throat, and frames him for the cops

*leaves the black girl who he nearly raped to be picked up by the cops and dragged in

Yeah I think Howie and Marty don’t look too bad next to him

Marty is a saint compared to both of em

As self centered as he is, he literally risks his life and his career multiple times throughout the movie to save his girl including decking her husband and risking jail all because he may or may not have hit her.

In fact any time Marty is an a******, he’s an a****** to dipshit mob bosses or Kevin O Leary or the scummy shoe business owner who is trying to screw him out of his pay so he can keep him there forever. Even with Paltrows character, he’s offering her a momentary lapse of freedom that she can never have without him.

Yeah I agree. He’s definitely a bit of an a****** but he never did anything genuinely terrible in the movie

Yeah he’s just cocky and he does stupid s*** no doubt that gets in the way of his own dreams. But I don’t think he actually hurts anybody in the film that didn’t deserve it. Even with his girl getting in trouble, she is complicit in it all because she’s so desperate to trap him with her throughout the film too

connie is so much worse like disgustingly worse and he gets the worst ending

crazy to think they saw pattinson and was like “yea actually this is how deep you can go” all in a queen’s accent too

marty is a sweetheart, connie is a way different nihilistic beast who has obviously stopped caring a long time ago

i think connie is a bit more nuanced with more depth but marty is so charismatic with a bigger budget behind his portrayal

It’s funny cuz even though Howie literally dies, one can argue he actually got the best ending of the 3

i think they mirror each other but have different impacts on purpose

i think stealing kg’s ring was f***ed esp considering the basketball history behind it (he doesn’t know this will be his only one)

where as kay, you don’t feel like it’s that big of a loss to her. it’s a necklace upon many necklaces she may have. it may just be one of her many new york necklaces

i think both pieces have completely different value to their respective characters and are intended to have a different impact on the viewer

i think you’re supposed to root for marty’s pathetic behavior, where as howie is being a d*** and it’s anxiety inducing to imagine him getting jumped by a nba crew
