I would’ve been beyond excited if he was signed while we still had pogba but it’s a different time now
ten hag seems like he wants to play with a double pivot instead of a traditional dm so this makes no sense
resembles us signing maguire (mourinho’s ideal cb) after he’s left. ole would’ve killed for a dm like casimero during his time so he could fit pogba in instead of those 2 headless chickens diving into tackles
always 1 manager too late
We’ve played a 4-3-3 in both preseason and at times in both of our PL games this season.
No, his system doesnt use a traditional dm
Alvarez quite literally played as a no.6 behind Gravenberch and Berghuis/Klaassen last season lol
Hard disagree
Yes, he's 30 but Chelsea have just signed a 31 y/o Koulibaly which is apparently a genius signing. If he was 34 maybe but he's still at the top of his game and one of the best defensive midfielders on the planet right now
Midfielder of that level coming to United is much, much needed and almost too good to be true
For Chelsea, casemiro and koulibaly make sense they’re a top 5 team in Europe they are trying to win the CL. Idk what the point of paying a f*** ton for casemiro + insane wages will make sense. Would rather buy someone younger for that fee + wage.
Could turn out to have 3/4 even 5 amazing years left in the tank. Could not.
Just one of those you got to wait and see.
Only thing we do know for sure is that he is, as it stands, one of the very best midfielders in the world. Hard to be mad at that. Ridiculously ambitious buy it would be considering the state of things.
For sure. He’s incredible, but I just don’t get how it’ll work out I see mostly another di Maria.

Casemiro in isolation = probably won’t work out too well
Casemiro being one of at least 2-3 more signings = should change the complexion of this side a lot.
Depends if the Glazers get their fingers out for the next 2 weeks

Couldn't get De Jong and couldn't get a back up that has the same ability. Plus saw how poor our midfield has been so pivoted to buying a full on DM + tweaking the system. Seems perfectly fine if that's been the thinking. We'll see.
I agree that it didn't seem he wanted a traditional DM. But De Jong has a very unique skillset.

FDJ is closer to ADM than Case tbh. Other two were either forced out or attempted to be forced out whereas Case can stay in Madrid if he wants but he's interested in the project ($$$).

If the manager is making compromises (“tweaks”) before he’s even gotten off the mark its very telling
adaptability is good but its not how you wanna start

Losing your first 2 games of the league comprehensively is telling enough. Be happy he has the sense to possess adaptability.
Again, De Jong is a very particular type of player. If he didn't feel there was another deep lying playmaker of the same quality available, then going for a plan B - out and out destroyer - seems a pretty reasonable line of thinking. But we'll see exactly what it all means in practice. I doubt it's gonna mean a full on system shift.
That’s crazy that they rejected that much, lmao. They did something similar on a smaller scale with David Neres; rejecting €50m from China only for him to end up at Shakhtar for €15m.
Massively begs the question though — if we had this money in the first place, why did we wait until mid August to bid it?!

Ajax will never get this much for Antony, put in £75 million and he’s ours. But he’s not worth that much at all
The documentary about United winning a domestic treble after getting smashed by Brentford will be for the ages
Casemiro would be a top signing to put the club over the top if they were pushing the chips in for a title race this season.
As it stands, I'm not too enthused about the signing. He has a lot of mileage on him in his time with Real and all those CL runs. There's the World Cup in a couple months, followed by the Prem winter holiday fixtures and all the mid-week Europa travel to no-name villages in Albania and Kazakhstan. It's a signing that has the potential to go very, very wrong with how thin the midfield depth is
Definitely fake what would Madrid do with de gea even

You get the chance to sign Casemiro, you sign Casemiro. It's just as simple as that.
Also, the league is immensely competitive currently. It's important to get CL. Both for revenue and for attracting players. If Casemiro is helpful in a title challenge I can assure you he's helpful too in a CL battle. 30 years old or not.
Chances of getting both Casemiro and FDJ? Or did they use dejong money for this deal
