Can't help but like him, really hope he has a breakthrough this season

Don't Dutch people speak better English than most native speakers?

Yeah Holland got some of the best English speakers, but VdB got kinda clowned over here (Holland) when he was interviewed when he just moved, cus he was mixing in a lot of Dutch words when speaking English
Give Donny a chance on Saturday and if the midfield somehow plays worse he can do podcasts with Rio for the rest of the year
Donny is Kagawa 2.0
Second season Kagawa maybe, when Moyes wasted him.
Kagawa actually got a lot of gametime in his first season - under Sir Alex. And was class.
Can someone point me to understanding Futbol? Tactics, strategy, etc.
What makes certain players great? Is it just scoring, dribbling, passing?
What's an EPIC highlight reel?
Is Pele still the greatest?

Football isn’t that hard to understand tbh and the rules are pretty easy, aside from the offside rule which is the rule most ppl don’t get in the beginning. Otherwise it’s basically try to score more than your opponent, which you can do by getting the ball in the back of the oppositions net, without using your arms. Your score moves up by one everytime you do.

As for tactics and strategy, you’ll basically learn by watching more of it imo. I can give you a rundown of the positions and sorts players there are tho. This gives you a pretty good idea of all the positions.

Players need different strengths for different positions.
The best players currently playing are Ronaldo and Messi and they’ll probably go down as the 2 best players of all time, along with Pele and Maradonna. The best young upcoming players at the moment are probably Mbappe and Haaland.
Best competitions to watch are the English Premier League and the European Champions League. Those are currently the most relevant. Manchester United, the club of this thread and the team we support, plays in both of those competitions.
Hope you got anything from this, I was bored so might as well give you an answer.

As far as strategy, think of it like a chessboard, the players line up in what's called a "formation". The most common is 4-3-3 meaning 4 defenders, 4 midfield and 3 attacking. As the game progresses, the coaches move these players around like chess pieces, if they want to play defensive, 2 of the 3 attackers will fall back - if they need to press or "trap" the other team, the 3 midfield will play up higher. It's very fun to watch a game and see these tactics being implemented.
