Tbf we probably were the better team from the start of the second half until Haaland’s goal. But I’m kind of fuming at this. Shouldn’t be the message after that game.

Harsh to blame him for the deflection for the Haaland goal but he was doing a whole lot of bs today. I think he’s an easy scapegoat though, Bruno and Dalot were playing against us, front three were non existent for most of the game.

If Carrick is smart he needs to give up on this winger as a false nine gimmick and start either Zirkzee or Sesko. If he’d have done that it gives us more options off the bench (Cunha or Rashford as well as Sesko) to come on and change the game. Sesko super sub gimmick might have bailed us out almost every game last season but it’s not going to win us the prem.

Problem is a very lacklustre preseason and poor investment in areas of need. You have to be a track athlete on top of a footballer these days

We used to be the ones massively overpaying for players and our opponents would pick up smarter bargains in the league, now we’re the ones who are running responsible signings

We’ve also gone from being the most devastating attack on the counter (peak Rashford, Fernandes, Martial, Greenwood was genuinely one of the best in Europe on the break) to being a side with little athleticism and a desire to try and play slow build possession when most teams have moved away from that
