After all this time we are still reliant on Maguire up top

Our most threatening attacking player even on the ball

Mostly agree but starting with dorgu in this game was a complete misstep that’s squarely on Carrick

It’s only very clearly wrong cause they scored first, I have no faith in Dorgu against a low block, I don’t have much faith in any of our players against it tbf, thought Lacey coming on earlier might’ve helped but this kind of game you have to be switched on at set pieces, really frustrating

  • #CarrickOut

    • Mainoo back in
    • Baleba has to automatically start after the break because he’s the only midfielder with more than 70 pace
    • Dalot back in over the least athletic fullback I’ve ever seen in my life (Mazraoui)
    • Dorgu to never start in attack again
    • Sesko upfront

Title run starts next week bros

  • Oblivion šŸ‡¹šŸ‡

We have to suffer before we can celebrate

Agreed set pieces and many players being really off it were the biggest issues, but Carrick had to know hull would sit deep from minute 1 and therefore dorgu wouldn’t be very useful

Why tf was the ball constantly slowly being given to shaw like he’s our playmaker

Show some dynamism across the pitch, drag the defenders out.

Be more direct with your passing instead of slow in front of a sea of bodies

Shaw is the dynamism, he offers something, he puts in a couple decent crosses now and then

I have more of a problem seeing the predictable Maguire marauding jinking run, it breaks up the play but rarely in a meaningfully positive way, just normally ends with him playing a pass with his back to goal or putting in a blocked cross

They weren’t sitting deep from minute 1 we had a couple chances early and could’ve made it 1-0, a good organised team makes it 1-0 early (like Arsenal last night), doesn’t let the team settle into a defensive rhythm and takes the crowd out of the game

Fixing organisation at set pieces should be a priority, losing Casemiro fundamentally changes a huge part of the game

Do you think we are too lax out of possession? Seemed like we were comfortable to just let hull have the ball. Maybe the players aren’t fit enough for more intensity atm though. Feel like the complaints of his time at middlesborough had a lot to do with his defensive structure.

The lack of intensity is the most worrying bit for me

Good teams put team like hull to the sword and force errors. We couldn’t even get the basics right today

Very worrying and it's some signs from pre season as well

Hopefully we can just push on and wake up now

Tielemans isn’t up to speed yet

Mount complimented santos very well in preseason. Bruno Barely played, mbeumo should have been up front today & cunha on the left

  • Should have sold Fernanj to the Saudis. Love the guy, but he’s close to finished

  • That was a horrible performance man

Carrick got the team wrong today be interesting to see if he really does learn from it

Last 16 PL games where Dalot has started RB we’ve won 13 & drawn 3

Not sure why Maz was picked or Dorgu either really unless they genuinely think he is a LW

This is the same team (minus Casemiro) that didn’t have that problem last season under Carrick so I wouldn’t think so, and that wasn’t the reason for conceding today, plus all teams would have fitness problems easing into a season so that’s no excuse

Don’t see a point in making too many big judgements today even though the problems we have against lesser teams that are confident and organised feel very familiar, think we’re still on for a decent season and hopefully we don’t get too many more results like this

Every team has games like this in a season, hopefully it’s a wake up call and we get going next week

    Still have faith

I don’t agree who else was carrick going to play besides Maino. If carrick had a different lineup we would be slogging him and would have still lost the match. Player fitness and intensity across the board was shocking.

Dorgu or lacey should have been tried at RW today

& yes maz isn’t up to the physicality of the league from what I’ve seen. Always seems like he’s struggling to get to the ball

Intensity and focus was terrible but hard to say fitness was just a problem for us when they had 3 players off with cramp after an hour, we’ll get fitter as the season goes on at least

That’s because they were the only team running.
