I dropped the hate gimmick last week. I still don’t think the football has been all that inspiring but the results are what they are, and I didn’t care about poor performances when we were winning under Ten Hag, so I shouldn’t start caring now.

My real position on Carrick has been pretty consistent. If he gets the job then I’ll be on board, but I would’ve preferred it happened after a formal process and search where he emerged as the best option.

He holds an advantage over any other candidate given his familiarity with the squad. We’re going into the most important window since the 22/23 Summer, and his input for what is/isn’t needed is far more valuable than someone new coming in.

I suppose it’s also beneficial to clear the manager thing up early so it doesn’t interfere with recruitment and signings.

Agree, a decent manager + amazing player group will always be better than an amazing manager + average player group in the long term
