Obviously none of us want to be in the competition. The point is the long-term, big picture.

Learning to win and handle the pressure at this stage of tournaments is important. You see what bottlejobs Spurs and PSG are. This is especially important now considering the age of our squad. For the likes of AWB, Greenwood, McTominay its their first time in this scenario. Important to win the finals you're in and get trophies on the books, even if its just the Europa this season.

My issue is the “Solskjaer needs this” narrative. I agree it’d be great for the club, players, and him but he doesn’t need it. There has been clear progress under Ole, more so than any manager after Sir Alex. The result of this match doesn’t undo any of that.

True, we shouldn't have been in the competition in the first place bc we bottled that group stage but, unless we get a hard group, I'd expect us to get past the group stages next season

It’s crazy how anxious I was about the EL final 4 years ago and how I don’t really care tonight. If we win it’s nice to finally have trophy under Ole, but we’ve already qualified for CL so if we lose it really isn’t the end of the world. I still expect us to beat Villarreal tho, I think the Ajax team we beat 4 years ago was better than Villarreal is now.

If we win this we can’t come up against any champions of the big 6 leagues next year. But teams like Barcelona Real PSG and Juve haven’t become champion so we are probably getting one of them in our group.

Rashford's movement especially always does my head in.

You watch anytime Shaw gets the ball and is striding forward, Rashford 9 times out of 10 will pull inside rather than running ahead of him. And we just end up going backwards or losing the ball.
