Not backing a baldy agenda bc he did so much damage to the club, but I do wonder how much better we would’ve been had we not been cursed with so many injuries that second season.
We looked so solid the first season when we had both Martinez and Varane fit so as soon as one of them was out we were done for.
Me too, me too…
I'd put kids from the academy and give them substantial minutes instead of Dalot, Shaw etc. at this point if I were in his position as I believe you can only gain things by doing that. He should've done it in last year's PL as well with how they treated every game after a certain point. Too bad I think he's too much of p**** to do it.
...he did? Amass, Heaven, Chido etc?
Good read
the pressure of being a historically successful club is always going to be there but it is not an explanation/justification for the dreadful football we play. other big teams sack underperforming managers and players immediately so they can get back on track. There is more evidence of that being a successful strategy than hoping for major improvement year-on-year. It can happen (leicester, nottingham forest, arsenal), but amorim has shown nothing to inspire hope
genuinely i think most fans would have been happy if we finished 8th this year but took strides in the style of play. is the ghost of expectation at united so haunting that we can't even accomplish that?

chelsea, madrid, bayern, dortmund, barcelona, milan, napoli, all have high manager turnover than us and id say they’re in a better state than we are
edit: I just saw you said for “this” club but I’d argue we’ve never tried it to the level the above clubs have and that’s a failure on our part
Players will turn on him real quick if it’s impacting their chances of making World Cup squads.
I don’t think anyone including the players believe in Ruben or this system, predicting a 1-0 loss. Haven’t seen a minute of actual Sunderland footage but they seem like they got what it takes to stay up.

Yeah, it might have been ok for other clubs but it hasn't worked for us
I believe our systemic issues don't get fixed by the constant sacking of a manager - thats not to say the current one should stay

That’s the thing with swapping managers, it doesn’t work until it does.
The only REAL proven world class manager untied ever had post sir Alex was Mourinho. He has our highest trophy count and the highest points total post sir Alex (no coincidence)
Just keep going for world class proven managers one of them will work and prove to be worth the backing and hopefully for more than 3 years, 5 if we are lucky.
Only issue is they are limited but they are the only appointments guaranteed to work.

Yeah that's fair. I think ive said a few times the flavour of the month Iraola or Glasner won't fit the bill. Needs to be established + proven winners not just a decent bounce in the league
No idea who fits that bill but they are probably in a job right now as well

I actually agree I’m not convinced with anyone that’s without 5+ years of consistent trophies and title challenging.
Zidane & anchelloti are the only ones who fit the bill that are remotely realistic for us in the next 2-3 years.
Everyone available right now is a gamble regardless.

ive been saying this forever, go with an interim when hes sacked in November for cheap, and give everyone time to decide.
there is nobody obvious out there today. but come April/may, someone may emerge as the leading candidate.
cunha dropped & Dalot lwb
He literally signed Dorgu as his first incoming and f***ing dalot who is even more useless on left than on right, is our dynamic wing back. He wants it to end today doesn’t he?
