I’m outside the US/Canada rn so when I go to espn it gives me the intl front page. What kinda headline article is this lmfao https://global.espn.com/football/story/_/id/45864952/man-united-bad-transfer-window-strategy-making-worse
I thought consensus was we got good value for mbeumo and cunha…..
The basic gist of the article is that Mbeumo and Cunha are already too old to be a part of anything substantial for United, specifically mentions winning the Champions League in the future, which is silly cuz my only goal for this season is to secure European football of any kind and not be ass.
Then it says says that due to Bruno having pen/free kick duties, Mbeumo and Cunha's numbers are gonna go way down, also seems to doubt how good they really are considering how they overperformed expectations last season and underperformed in previous ones. (As if jumps don't exist?)
Finally, blames us for the state of the market for how much we paid for Cunha at the start of the window, even though all we did was activate his release clause.
Typical anti-United ragebait bias.
And this - this is what we’re dealing with for basically every player we want gone
Like how do we accept this man

We really did hurt a lot of people the way the media will write complete nonsense about us on a daily basis
Man United paid decent fees for two of the top attackers in the premier league last season - here’s how this spells disaster for their future ambitions.
I hope we get back to the top again one day just to piss on the losers that run English media.

"Sesko is an inexperienced 22-year-old physical standout, while Watkins is a solid 29-year-old Premier League producer. How are these your two targets? Putting aside that they're not similar players at all, signing Watkins would be trying to optimize the next season or two, while signing Sesko would be trying to optimize 2027 through 2030."
I wish I could punch this paragraph
Going to sound a bit boomer, but I think players (people?) were probably a bit less entitled back then. If the gaffer wants you gone like that, you’re probably just thinking okay f*** this, I’m gone.
Now players have their agents and entourages, people within the club etc. and feel a bit more comfortable.
I think Ole alluded to this in an interview after he got sacked
You have so many agents, family members etc involved now they’re all wrapped in bubble wrap so need their ego stroked constantly
multiple reports on the sesko deal taking a u-turn rn, seems like he might end up in newcastle after all

Pretty sure it stems from the guy who said we’d get Campos as DOF

More than just one guy saying it now tho

Yeah all copied off him though
Fab or Ornstein only just reported he’s not made a decision yet, I’m not putting any weight behind it until Ornstein says something honestly

I read that too and was so confused.
Who is Tyler Morton and how are Liverpool getting 15M gbp for him?? Lmfao how are we so incapable of selling meanwhile Chelsea Liverpool move anyone they want with fantastic valuations.
I didn’t know Chelsea got that much for felix. Sorry but how were we not able to sell Rashford or Sancho for the same if not more ?
This summer will go down as the summer I stopped understanding transfer fees.

Also I literally don’t want sesko he gives me the same vibe as Hojlund and I’m tired of shopping in Germany.

The only real positive I like about him is that for a guy who is 6ft5 he actually knows how to win headers and compete aerially
In an era where strikers are scared of using their head (look at Hojlund, Zirkz, Gyokeres, Haaland, Isak etc), it would be a nice treat to have.
Otherwise I’m pretty eh on this guy too. Not convinced he’ll work out at all and we’re signing more potential to a side that’s far from ready
We are not in a position to take a gamble on a striker right now, just bring in Ollie for the short term to help us get back up there then we can revisit it in a few years where the striker market could be more attractive
I’ve seen Sesko a handful of times, like scoring in the Euros (actually I think he just hit the post)- but I’m still not convinced he exists
United are simply not smart or lucky enough to be buying from Germany or the Netherlands
