I actually wouldnt mind if we signed......pulisic. last year after covid break he was one of the best players in England. rumors all week that we're interested in him, and I think he's super dynamic versatile and could be a good signing for low fee.

Director of football? What on earth is that? And Fletcher as technical director with 0 experience? Who’s doing the transfers now?

when you look at really the majority of clubs that do have dof or any director tend to be those that have had experience with the club. the majority do appoint in-house. Overmars + Van Dar Sar Ajax, Leicester dof played for them. So I'm happy with the appointments gets us more focused on the job at hand

no more woodward handling transfers and academy and all football related stuff is the summary.

fletcher is doing all the academy stuff. I think he has more experience than anyone in the world for the job hes been at united since the 90s

what a player indeed. his attitude is so notable. even if he didnt score the goals, I wouldve come away from those 120 mins thinking wow he was the only one on that team with a huge work rate and that badly wanted to win. cr7 wasn't even involved

my dream was VDS he seems very smart. but 2 guys that know the club is ultimately the only real criteria that matters as a minimum. we'll see if theyre now smart enough to make the right decisions on transfers and academy

Well Van der Sar has a solid foundation. Footballing background on the highest level, completing asport marketing scholarship at a Cruyff University. Head of marketing at Ajax for 4 years to step up to managing director. Ajax had a clear path for multiple ex footballers like Van Der Sar and Overmars

So Murtough is basically technical director and Fletcher head of academy. Wording it the way they have now implicits conflicts between the two functions, hence my confusion.

Murtough is I think in charge of all transfer strategy. Fletcher in charge of all academy stuff. So fletcher will manage the pipeline of good potential kids and coaching being top notch etc. murtllugh same thing for senior team and transfer strategy.

I think every club in the world has this same split responsibility nowadays that we’ve finally adopted

Yea I know that’s why the titles don’t make sense. Transfers and first team goals are technical and as long as Fletcher isn’t involved in policy for the first team he’s just head of academy.
