Enjoy the talk for now boys.. Iâll be collecting receipts in the mean time
I was right about ten hag from early and that was unpopular in here as well
âHeâll bring the glory days again..â đś
city winning another fa cup
arsenal winning their first ever CL
liverpool equalling the PL title record
and us finishing 14th, looking like we might get relegated next yr.
has to be the worst ever season.
Arsenal not winning UCL, lol

So whoâs the magic man to get the United team (and as you said with minimal transfer business) flying again?
And if we brought him in the summer, where would you expect him to finish?

The never ending search for the magic man is a big reason why we are where we are. I used to scoff at the idea, but I'm gradually becoming more and open to the suggestion by some that we should shop around in the championship/look to bring in someone who doesn't bring an insane wave of hype with him.

So wait, the guy undefeated in his league and unbeaten in the UCL is not worth having but a championship manager with no hype is the answer?

There is no âmagic manâ. Stop believing in the cult of some legendary manager and more importantly that they are less disposable than players. Stop pitting some sort of manager v player dichotomy. Both can not be up to par.
I expect the manager - whoever he may be - to be winning substantially more matches than loses.
Before we appointed Amorim, he had the CV. It hasnât transpired on the pitch. It very likely never will. Thatâs how these things go â all parties move on and go again.
The replacement will likely be someone who is also impressing on his CV at the time. Itâs then on that guy to start succeeding. If he doesnât, the process starts again.

I back this sentiment.

I dont think it's about the championship or other type of exp.
really I see no reason we keep backing someone that has been unable to improve the squad. full stop. your #1 job is to improve existing players, and help them deploy your tactics. we are not playing Real Madrid every week, we are playing at best, equal players in ability to united. so it should not be this bad after 5 full months in charge with zero international breaks.
and if the only solution (excuse) is Ruben needs to get 10 players that fit into his 'tactics', again I dont see how that is viable. and actually sounds risky due to how unique the tactics are and the obvious risk this does not work.
there are countless examples of players, managers, not succeeding after taking that step up, after having excellent CV's. such is the game, eventually someone may crack this nut. id say in the past we were too quick to fire imo. but 5 months of Ruben has been the worst football we've had since SAF retired.

Weâre in here debating whether to keep a guy thatâs gonna have us finish 15th tho lol

https://twitter.com/matflusk/status/1916547144950939760We Are Liverpool: This Means More
Never been more pessimistic about this club than now.
With Moyes I thought it was a fluke
With LVG it was boring but I felt like were
building for the future
With Mou we were signing world class players and winning trophies
With Ole we were pretty mid but at least I felt like we were getting better every season and playing pretty entertaining football
With ETH he had a great first season and thought with just a couple extra players weâd be playing great football and could be contenders again
With Amorim now I just see dread, we got a coach who has no clue what heâs doing, we got a terrible squad, and worst of all nobody in the club seems to be showing any type of ambition; Amorim is losing every game and it hasnât even crossed his mind to bench Garnacho Hojlund or change to an attacking formation, Board doesnât dare to sack him because theyâre scared theyâre gonna look dumb and get sent away by Ratcliffe like Ashworth, Ratcliffe himself is a f***ing thightwad who is hollowing out the entire club, disrespecting legends, and thinks cheap signings like Delap w 20 career goals can get us back performing, and worst of all Iâm not even seeing any rumours about selling Hojlund Garnacho or Dalot (whom Amorim also seems to love), and oh yeah the Glazers are still here and donât seem to be going anywhere. It seemed like weâve accepted our faith of becoming a mid table club. Winning EL (we will not beat Bilbao btw) wonât change any of this unfortunately.

Expecting a revolving door of managers then eventually randomly have one hit the ground running is incredibly naive.
It is not the reality of United for a myriad of reasons.
Just because I think we owe our current manager a second before lynching him doesnât mean I donât understand manager v player etc etc. What is being proposed as the solution isnât a solution at all, it continues the mess.
Itâs trendy to s*** on the 3 back system. You whine he plays wing backs, so what we bring in someone who doesnât? They play 3 midfielders. Then that doesnât work, the next guy wants 2 strikers instead, then that doesnât work.. how can it ever work long term in those scenarios? Throwing cash for a round peg in an ever changing shaped hole.
Or INEOS implement a core style. Then, they recruit only for that style. That narrows down the pool of disposable managers greatly. Theyâll have different ways of implementing that style, too. Players who wonât suit one manager but do the next.
Weâve wasted endless money on the revolving door of managers and it hasnât worked. You want to continue 12 years of failure but wonât give the alternative route 5 months? Someone like Tuchel could get you a year of success. Most fans balked at the idea because a short term scrap for a trophy isnât what we need. Weâve just shipped off the Dutch fraud who couldâve continued to do exactly that.
United fans have also backed the players over the manager for years now - maybe thatâs why the away end sing for Ruben mostly now. Theyâre clued up to the fact we need a serious shake up and giving I dunno, Ancelotti maybe - Rasmus Hojlund, Garnacho, Dalot, Onana, Ugarte etc etc wonât do s*** for him either. What a shock that would be.
So wait, the guy undefeated in his league and unbeaten in the UCL is not worth having but a championship manager with no hype is the answer?
Why does his Sporting record matter? Ten Hag had a fantastic CV prior to coming here, and to you he's the antichrist.
It's not about "bringing in someone with no hype" as much as it is being more diligent in the hiring process and broadening horizons. This club has tunnel vision when it comes to their managerial hiring process. Why not look in the Championship? The arrogant air of, "We're Manchester United so we must hire 'the best' available" clearly isn't working, and ironically, has only served to further dull the shine of this club. I have sympathy for Amorim in the way he was brought in, but we're long past the trial period. He's had 6 months, and he probably isn't going to get us to 45 points.
A decade of ownership malpractice, poor management, and awful transfer business has left this club in a terrible mess, and in this state I don't think there's any single name out there that can rocket us to the top, but I also don't think it has to be this bad. This club seeks out revolutionaries, and I get why... but what is needed is someone capable of just nudging us in the right direction. You believe Amorim can be that person, fine, but he's going to need to spend hundreds of millions to even have a chance to prove that he can. I believe there are managers out there who can do good, not great, with what we have now. Managers who aren't as stubborn or set in their ways, managers who are more malleable, managers who can adapt. They're not sexy names, they're not prototypical "Manchester United managers"... but nothing about this club currently is.

https://twitter.com/clmerlo/status/1914745938502881509If this is real, it could be a signal of future transfer strategy or at least a change in approach to buying directly from South America like Brighton, Madrid, etc
I think our last attempt was Pellistri?

Makes sense, but INEOS clearly weren't interested in a short term point scrappy manager. Probably for the same reasons I mentioned. It serves no long term purpose
Really you want someone willing to bend over for the current crop of players who aren't good enough - ETH did that despite them all being his own buys and look how that went. I just think we're past the point where the manager is the big bad wolf anymore. Yeah he should be doing better (obviously) but when you watch the games and see players unable to make simple passes, terrible decision making - these are really low IQ, not physical enough players that don't suit the league as a team. Individually they might go off and be alright (doubt it) but together as a collective team, it's not PL level
We built a team that'd probably look alright in Italy or something.. it's just no surprise we don't look like world beaters to me. If you want to get rid of the manager for that, fine, but it doesn't really matter when whoever you bring in will then have to go and field all those players anyway. ETHs last season we finished 8th by an absolute miracle, could've easily been 13th as well.
Everyone ITT acknolwedges only Bruno would maybe get in a top 4 side's starting 11.. so are we really that surprised?
