Rangnick sucked as a manager but he told us what we had to do YEARS ago and they kicked him out the door because they simply didn’t want to do it.

Ten Hag did nothing to fix this because I don’t think he was capable. Unfortunately for him, Amorim is now left to try and do this while also trying to make sense of the mess left behind.

I’d genuinely love to know who the people that want the manager sacked think will come in and give us long-term success.

  • Please put Rashford back in the XI so that his stans can stop pretending he’s any good

    Interesting:

RĆŗben Amorim is the first Manchester United manager to lose as many as five of his first 10 games in charge of the club in all competitions since Walter Crickmer in January 1932 (6/10).

You can see it clearly the games we are losing I still don’t believe we’ve been thoroughly outclassed yet

Arsenal, two corners, yesterday corner foul again, Bournemouth we had 23 shots to their 10

If we had a good striker at least, just a single position to sign in January if we had to I think it’d start to click. Wing backs as well but with ETHs signings we are under immense s*** through PSR id imagine

Can't just say Arsenal two corners, pretty reductive. We've looked the worse team in every league game bar Everton imo, whether you wanna call that outclassed or not.

I don't see a striker changing much, in my opinion we are just struggling to create good (clear-cut) chances in this setup. We're having possession but we're not turning it into anything meaningful.

I also just feel we're nullifying the best qualities of our halway competent players:

    • Garnacho is now running head on at defenders rather than cutting inside
    • Mainoo is best at being press resistant, carrying the ball forward but the defence now do this
    • Mainoo is really good in and around the box, creating space, little skills. But now it is just overcrowded in those areas with the two inside forwards occupying those same spaces
    • Dalot would be alright providing an overlap but as the sole winger he's not good enough at delivering crosses
    • Hojlund isn't getting any worthwhile service because of all the above

Said it before - it's all well and good having more control of games but if that doesn't translate to goals then we just inevitably end up making a silly mistake, conceding, and then we end up straying from the control tactic anyway - bringing on more attacking players and pushing more players forward. We've fallen into this same pattern in basically every game.

3atb isn't doing much as well if it just makes our buildup laboured and predictable and then the defenders can't defend in the first place.

I think there’s been games where it’s worked and games where it hasn’t. Again, the quality of the players and their adaptability to the new system isn’t really ideal, and it’s such a busy time of the season, they’ve kind of thrown him in the deep end and he’s catching all the blame for it now from reactionaries who don’t actually know what they’re talking about.

  • Dec 27, 2024

If they want to sell Rashford he should be featuring somewhat though, every game he doesn’t play drives the fee down. I feel like that’s very basic.

Also not sure if the likes of Holjund, Antony, and Zirkzee should really be given more grace than him bc they all suck, but I suppose they want to cut his wages out and try and get some money out of selling him.

  • Dec 27, 2024

Newcastle are going to absolutely dunk on us btw

Yeah it’s only natural. But the season is a throwaway anyway. Abandoning the system to placate the current set of morons only sets us back further

I’ve got no issues with any of it apart from set pieces atm. The personnel just isn’t good enough

Yeah that’s more than fair. I think the need for a good striker would open some doors though for the chance creation.

Rasmus doesn’t get the service but his movement is also not really good enough to get the service. The other option told us from get go he’s not really a 9. Lol

He has all the right qualities, look at the game vs Bodo.

And yes, it's all well and good saying great he can do it against Bodo - but that line of thinking goes for literally everyone in our team at this current moment. That is our level right now where we look half decent.

Although I do think we should buy Gyokores if we can - if having Amorim is potentially enough of a selling point for him to want to join us ahead of another team, we should absolutely do it.

Give me Gyokores, give me Cunha, give me Morgan Rogers, give me Khvicha, give me Quenda, give me Davies, give me Pedro Goncalves if Amorim does want him. Give me an Everton relegation and give me Branthwaite.

It’s hilarious how the story for much of Ten Hag’s tenure was that the composition of the squad was good enough to finish top 6 and that he was holding them back. Now that he’s out, it’s 600m wasted on players that can’t do anything right.

Let me clear, Ten Hag was not the man to lead this team forward. But Amorim has shown that he hasn’t a clue of how to operate at this level in his 10ish matches here.

To instill your philosophy, you need to build confidence in your players. To do so, you need results. This squad has glaring limitations but you cannot tell me with a straight face that it is the 14th best team in the Premier League. Instead of playing more pragmatic football to squeak out some wins and showcase some of the players who need to go in a better light, we are forcing an idiotic 3-4-3 and at the villainizing the only player who could fetch a decent transfer fee

This guy is genuinely the worst post-Fergie manager we have had because of how stupid he is. Another month of this and we’ll be sitting 18th going ā€œwell the results aren’t going our way but at least we’re generating chancesā€

amorim vastly misunderstood how complex it would be to go 3421 at a club that has 442 as its core philosophy and has never once never ever ever, played with 3 at the back. just not our dna. like trying to make Barcelona a non tiki taka control possession side. can't be done.

I think there’s a player there for sure. He’s shown that a few times. At the same time he has a lot of worrying qualities but has age on his side.

He should never have been our only strike option too.
