hindsight 20/20 but it was doomed for ten hag the moment he said he could not play the ajax way at united - the only reason the club hired him was for the football that got ajax to a UCL semi. it's not like he has any other credentials/charisma that got him the job. we're literally keeping him around so he can experiment with his tactics, its unbelievable

crazy thing is if he persevered with that style (and actually COACHED players to play his way like every other good manager does) nearly as much as he has with this bullshit counterpress transition system the results probably would've been better long-term

he's sacked himself as far as im concerned, I had some sympathy for lvg, mou, ole hell even moyes but none for eth

I refuse to believe these “top footballing men” signed Joshua Zirkzee

    underachiever

yeah but the thing is this guy is actually absolutely clueless, he’s s***

there’s just no point in sticking with that, this guy has no damn plan most of the times these days…. you can’t play with a non-existent midfield

to me he’s easily the worst out the bunch regardless the trophies he won, don’t think United’s ever been straight up embarrassed so many times under any different manager, yet he still always survived

massively overachieved in the league last season as well tbf, how the hell you keep a manager that ends up with a negative GD in any top 6 team ? thats just bollocks …. nothing but respect for the FA cup win but realistically that was the worst thing that could have happened to United heading into this season and it was just so evident from the jump

    But whats the alternative?

Tuchel whos known for getting into arguments with the board? Then they have the same problem in 2-3 years that they have now.

As a dane, I genuinely dont believe that Thomas Frank would touch United at all. He needs a lot of time. Time I dont think he would get at United and rightly so

I don’t think we can even pull the “who would replace him” line anymore. Chelsea sacked Poch when he was on the up last season and brought in Maresca who has done a great job. It doesn’t have to be the biggest name but somebody, anybody, can do a better job at this point.

Maybe time we moved on from Bruno and Rashford as well, they’re far too inconsistent the last few seasons for the amount we rely on them.

Regardless of my opinion on Ten Hag, there are massive, influential members of that squad both on and off the pitch who, once ETH is gone, are going to be on their fourth, fifth, and for Rashford, sixth manager. Can't be ignored!

I’d like to think we actually have a pretty decent squad now bar a couple of players

So aslong as the next manager is a competent one and actually plays to our players strengths we should be alright for top 6

Pound for pound squad quality, Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool all have clearly superior squads.

Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle, and Manchester United are all on a similar level — each have their own strengths and weaknesses. (I’d put Spurs a tier slightly behind honestly)

Only significant difference between us and these teams is coaching and tactical set up

It’s not bad but still full of subpar talent on massive wages.

Whether it’s a failure of the setup or of ETH (both imo), we let Ten Hag buy whoever he wanted really and he had a dog s*** talent ID.

Even then, with these football powerhouses in charge we’re buying Zirkzee so I think we’re still miles off it squad wise

yeah thats why i said top 6 tbh

i think our only hope for champions league is a good cup run in europa

i don't even know why we as fans keep wishing on the CL tho tbh, when we do somehow get it we end up getting spanked and eliminated in the first round every time

Agree. I was on him about that quote forever. Knew he was an arrogant POS when he said that. And inept.

  • Sep 30, 2024

Ineos are going to look dumb af very soon though, how are you going to back him after scouting the world for a replacement then sack him 7 games in and be like actually Tuchel we want a bit of you instead

Why he’s getting Porto and Villa is beyond me honestly

He’s not the right man for the job, and that’s undeniable now. Why keep him any longer?

I'm not even a Ten Hag believer at this point. But this squad is haunted by players that should have been moved on ages ago, or not even signed.

    Rashford
    Shaw
    Casemiro
    Mount
    Antony
    Lindelof

    Deadwood.

  • Sep 30, 2024

Lindelof has been here for 7 years man

Yeah squad excuse was valid last year with all the injuries, current squad might not be the best but it’s at least good enough for top 5 imo

I think it has more to with it being an international break, they probably already had an ‘evaluation meeting’ planned for then. I think the results of these games aren’t really gonna matter tbh
