We did sign players who do those things, the main problem was just everyone was injured all the time and Casemiro was just too far off it.
But Antony in fairness is a very hard working winger. Mount is your man for pressing and great at keeping possession in tight areas. Martinez is your quick, ball playing CB.
Get a proper CDM who's capable of covering ground, get mobile CBs agreed, get the team pushing up, allow Onana to actually be more of the playmaking keeper we expected
I think none of the siginings have been bad in particular but they were isolated at times due to a mismatch of the remainder of players and injuries
So especially in those first two seasons you needed to take in account what signing will yield the greatest impact on the team
This 'you need a left footed cb on the left' thing is bullshit, some new age woke nonsense
Vidic & Ferdinand both right footed
Bruce & Pallister both right footed etc etc
Even recently Varane & Maguire went on a mad run whenever they were paired together and they're both right footed

?? Really Bayern? He tried that and hated it why would he do it again
Oh yeah forgot that happened. Can see Chelsea being in for him and theyāll pay him more than we will. Be a good get for us nonetheless.
He's very two-footed.
He's just a great CB who's young and has a very high ceiling. Everton fans rave about him. Every game I've seen of his he's been quality. They've had one of the best defences in the league and he's been at the heart of that.
70m tho? id rather yoro for that amount. younger, way higher ceiling.
never watched either. but the British tax is always dumb.

almost ever signing has been questionable.
antony - arguably the worst signing we've ever made. 1/10
licha - good when fit, but so far has been injured way too often. 6/10
mount - going to compete with antony for worst signing ever soon. 2/10
hojlund - glimpses of potential. 6/10
malacia - was ok 1st season. 3/10
bayinder - so bad he didnt even play carabao. 1/10
who am I forgetting?

Yoro wants Madrid. 70m ain't that much these days. They'll get it to like 50 plus some add ons hopefully.
That defensive line was at the crux of Ten Hagās troubles, however. He continued to instruct for a higher starting point so that his team could squeeze the play in the final third to win the ball and counter quickly. It was the blueprint mapped out by the United hierarchy, but the personnel at his disposal, especially with Martinez injured for the vast majority of the campaign, were ill-equipped for that style. Often they would drop deeper than Ten Hag intended, leaving a large space for midfielders to cover.
And there you have it folks, the summary of last season

counterpoint:
Onana - saved us from David De Goalforoppostion
Antony - isn't Sancho (also big important goals)
Mount - isn't Sancho
Malacia - saved his best games for Liverpool and City

Antony wouldāve done better with more ball carriers behind him and overlaps which is why i mentioned the importance of signing players at the right time. Antony would be a player you couldāve slotted in a fully updated team system, not as an isolated chance creating winger up top a la Olise.
The injuries are somewhat unpredictable so i can forgive that.
Mount wouldāve worked if they prioritised a new CDM first (and if he were fit ofc)
Hojlund wouldāve worked better as a backup striker.
Malacia unlucky injury but cheap and decent.
Bayindir, unnecessary but who knew Onana would be fit every game.
So there you have it. Marks were definitely missed in the order of transfer targets, iām not denying the impracticality of certain signings
Kudus turning into an a world class baller has taught me we all, myself included, know nothing. When we were linked with him nobody was keen on him.

He was a baller at Ajax, i didnāt wanna mention another Ajax player itt at the time tho lol
We not bringing up his height again are we? Carragher stated that in his first season and then went on to be in the top percentile of headers won that season, and physically heās absolutely fine?? Yes he needs to be partnered with a bigger cb I would agree, but to downplay how good Martinez is and that he should be pushed out to lb is ridiculous, I just canāt accept that broski
not his height itās just how overly aggressive he is often with forwards and you need someone more composed there. i said martinez is good i never denied that however having him lb means youāve got extra security at the back as loads of big teams have put cbās at lb to give themselves better defensive rigidity
Real refuse to pay more than 40M and Lille are getting better offers. If youāre lucky United may snatch him
liverpool and psg have higher chances. even then yoro can force the move through if he wants it that bad and heād pick liverpool or psg ahead if by some divine miracle he doesnāt go real madrid
Yoro wants Madrid. 70m ain't that much these days. They'll get it to like 50 plus some add ons hopefully.
for sure, if he chose us over Madrid, I wouldn't even want him. clearly he would display evidence that he's an absolute rtard
Did you watch the fa cup final? Iām not sure what prem cb id take over him when fit.
he was very good in the final but thereās still vvd and saliba iād take ahead ibr. thereās maybe one or two others but heās certainly one of the best in the league. i think personally with how unreliable shaw and malacia are you need him out there because what else is there. you either have awb who letās face it isnāt half as good as dalot or you have amrabat invert and he wasnāt good there.

come on man utd are currently having to remove the deadwood and having to revamp the squad because itās a hodgepodge of various eras rn. real madrid have got a budding young squad full of french black men itās too perfect for him to go now especially after winning ucl/la liga and mbappe joining

agree. and yes, I thought varane was a good balance to licha. but it didn't always work that well either, so I question what if balance is the optimal scenario to create for the 2 CB's, despite historical evidence e.g. rio/vidic being passive + aggressive pairing. but licha/varane never clicked. could be other factors, very hard to assess what the root cause is in all of this.

what do you mean? I said if he suddenly wanted united over Madrid, it would mean that his IQ is way too low. big red flag and we should pull out of the deal.

World class Luke Shaw has just had a whole year off, he's ready to get back in the game.
