Look at Lingard as another example back in 2015 to 2016 was the best time to sell him given how high his stock was back then. Now the best we could get for him is about 10 million I think.

A couple of years ago we could have gotten a fee for Romero when he was playing regularly

great points you've covered. that's why we have been calling for United to appoint a DOF we are not very good at dealing with transfers

we sign players for overpriced fees, give them a high salary, and then dont utilize them properly. then fire manager, hire new manager with other player targets, and repeat process. then wait for the old batch of players to leave on free transfers.

What teams sell players while they are producing for the team though? How do you sell Lingard after he was playing week in week out while we finished 2nd? Romero was a good keeper for us as well.

Real problem is that players are on high wages and other teams cannot match that.

Also anywhere after United is a move down unless you're going real or barca. I know I'd rather stay at united and try make it work as long as possible rather than go some midtable team on lower money. Its a short career

its a balancing thing and depends on each person. I played from youth and into uni team & the mental challenges of not playing week in week out are extrutiating, but would apply to professional level too.

some will definitely be okay to just get the 100k a week to play for the u23 team until their contract expire (rojo, jones, lingard), but others will want to desperately play week in week out cause that makes them happier.

its short career, but short life too, sitting on a bench for 5 years instead of fulfilling your potential is a tough decision. personally if I could make lets say 50k a week playing for say a burnley (lingard jones rojo could do this instead of making ~100k for united), id rather do that then not even make the subs bench for united. smalling decided to do that and moved on before united ruined his career.

I always feel like they make their field so much smaller when we play them width wise

I'd take it, don't think the squad is big enough for a FA Cup run. If we get knocked out of FA, Ole can go hard for Europa if he wants to. Just want to win league or Europa this year atleast lol

lingard has been at united his whole life and is a united fan. Its not really the same for him to just leave like rojo. Then again someone like Rojo probably wants to go back to argentina.

I agree I agree but the smalling example lol he was never making it into the squad again, it's not impossible for Jesse, Henderson. Plus coming through the academy must make it a bit harder too. Jesse is at the perfect age to move on tho, one last big contract somewhere.
