    Strikers are a dying breed

The game has been become so hyper focussed on pressing from the front and minimising risks from statistical perspectives. Higher rise in athletes, shortage in player quality.

Another way to look at it is how nonexistent heading is in strikers nowadays. Even big forwards like Hojlund, Haaland, Nunez etc. are all so average aerially.

If you think about some of the best no.9s from yesteryear, a lot of them would be shoved out as wide forwards in todays game.

Also hate to say it (cliché) but this new gen is just too soft

Can’t say anything as feedback or it’s taken as too harsh criticism. How are you gonna learn and improve then?

You can thank Klopp for destroying the beautiful game 😆

I like pressing don't get me wrong, but to have that as your main chance creating force...

Klopp + Pep basically choose the entire dynamic for modern football over the past 10 years. Probably Pep more than Klopp

Yeah but Pep atleast dominates the ball and builds up that way.

Klopp in his essence is suffocating the build up of the other team by muscle and speed of his forwards/team

This requires the entire league to become more physical.

That and also lower ranking teams resorting to less technical/more athletic profiles to counter the dominance of the big clubs.

Your a***ysis was very insightful btw, i am in agreeance with you

Different time. Throw in the fact that all these Liverpool United players go to each others birthday parties. Gone are the Thiago Silva warrior types.

Modern coaches would’ve turned a lethal poacher like van Nistelrooy into an ambiguous, pressing #9.5

Zidane feels like a Make-a-Wish Ancelotti. I don’t think he has the hunger for anything more than a national team job and I don’t really rate him despite his trophy cabinet

I could see him get one look at the facilities at Carrington and check out mentally, waiting for Deschamps to leave
