    🤔

why is saying hes not sure about licha make him a 'shite pundit'.

by no means is licha even close to vidic or rio or stam. so yeah he does have a lot to still prove, if his career will ever even be the same after this last year of injuries.

Out of all players that he could’ve criticised he picked Martinez… what a joke. Bro didn’t even play and whenever he does play he’s one of the only ones that hits mark

Cmon bro, we had 11 players yesterday stinking it up and he picks Martinez to s*** on. Martinez isn’t on vidic or Ferdinand level but neither are Evans Lindelof Maguire or even Varane. Matter of fact only current pl defender on that level rn is VVD, so thats a really s***ty reason to pick on him. Scholes got some kind of agenda against him from start. And if you start to yap about some injured player while there were 10 embarrassing themselves on the pitch yesterday you’re a s***e pundit.

what do the others have to do with s***ting on licha tho? its like defending Ole. if defending him, thatdoesn't mean he is good. it just means others are even worse.

as far as VVD ilk, yeah hes above everyone. but I would say saliba, Gabriel, stones, akanji, Dias are all better than licha. he's not looked as good post injury. granted hes only played a handful of games.

5 foot 9. its never been done before. he can prove me wrong, but until he does, just like almost every other signing we've made, I mark it as questionable success.

Hope he can go on an injury free post Ten Hag run to prove you wrong 😄

im rooting for him. but I keep hearing the 'we need the right players/formation/partnerships/roofs/etc' line being repeated. SJR & co need to nail recruitment so we can decide once and for all.

Odd timing. I have my doubts due to his fitness but no doubt he is a brilliant player when he’s available

to double down further, id say Licha is on par with Ake at city. and Ake is what like their 4th choice CB (yes I get that he plays LB often with peps formation). so thats the standard we need to get to, to challenge city.

Anybody who has seen us with Martinez and without Martinez can tell you why criticising him (while he isn’t playing, mind) is kinda stupid.

Van Gaal was a football terrorist.

His relationship with hispanic players was utterly bizarre as well.

that is literally my point. he is our best defender. for city he would be their 4th or 5th best defender. thats the gap we need to close.

like I don't think its even a discussion to compare licha to Dias/Stones/Akanji. only discussion to be had is with Ake.

I don't think that sort of comparison/perspective is fair.

For one CIty are obviously a whole class above overall. Their defence faces an entirely different level of pressure than ours does. Their not a team in development - Dias and Akanji got to come in and simply slot in to an already excellent defence and team.

Plus they have massive depth. Pep can take his time to develop them when needed - Stones struggled badly for years. He's found success last 2 seasons as a DM predominantly. Ake barely played his first couple years there and has only done well now when they switched to the 3 at the back.

Martinez has had a top first season in the Prem coming from Netherlands, with a team that had come off a horrendous season, had a new manager, was in a rebuild, and an unsettled defence switching near enough every game. And then injury problems this year.

His mentality alone is worth a ton. I don't think we can really gauge where he would rank for City and it's a bit pointless to try. What I can say is I'm pretty sure Pep would be plenty happy to have him. The gap we need to close is not due to players like him, and its certainly not solved by selling them and replacing them. Their the players you keep and trust in, the dedicated leaders that give their all and will only get better as the rest of the team around them gets better too.

city is so far ahead of us that we can't even call stones a CB anymore.

I think hes a good player. good enough to win a title? yes possibly. as our best CB? doubt it. jury is out tho, big if on whether he'll be the same as 1st season Martinez anymore.

as a side note city truly just playing the ultimate pep type of football. completely position-less, but everyone covers for one another perfectly in sync. Bernardo silva im sure his heat map is the entire pitch. stones often times is level with haaland. numerous other examples like that too.

LVG was torture most of the time but he was the only one with a clear plan. A plan he executed horribly and one that was probably flawed anyway, but at least it was a plan.
It's clear now that Mou, Ole or ETH were all just vibes and making it up as they went along, and an unprecedented amount of luck would be required for them to win the league/CL with United. Even in real time I feel like we were all waiting for the performances to catch up with the results, but instead in the end they've just both nosedived.

I truly think United brings out the worst in managers in the sense that you can’t rely on anyone within the club and instead you have to do everything by yourself.

Completely disagree to compare him to any of those tbh, they play completely different ways to Martinez. I’d personally love to see Nathan Ake be as good on the ball as Martinez.

I think he’d be in their starting 11 but they do tend to have a lot of depth, which is our actual issue in defense.

How do they play completely different? They are strong and technical Centre backs that build from the back. It’s not like they’re John terry in Jose Mourinhos Chelsea
