dunno if we can keep Bruno/Mount/McTom. imo they all play the same position in this 4-2-3-1.

You can tell Erik desperately wants to play 4-1-2-3 but this team simply can't so he has to resort back to a double pivot to scrape them much needed wins

meaning a 4-3-3 with one DM? what makes you think he wants to do that?

from what I saw at Ajax (e.g. the spurs SF side), he had 2 DM one of which being de jong.

Yeah but he wants one pivot to feed into two 8's to work both flanks of the attack and disorient their defense.

He wants to basically overload the penalty box with multiple runs behind the defense

But you can't defend that way in the prem... either you need super fastpaced wingers who can muster up the energy to run all the way back and an undying 6 running on nuclear fission

I wouldn't trust ETH to pick the right players/transfer targets.

I rather have him discuss his preferred formation and ask Ineos to run the numbers and stats and get him the right players in and the right players out

But yeah, Mainoo should make his way into either a 6 or 8 position regardless of tactics

As for this season: 4-2-3-1 seems like the safest bet to get top 4... not the prettiest of football... not the ETH ball we were expecting, but regardless the best fit for this squad

He overestimated Case x Mount x Bruno as a midfield trio

And Antony didn't work out.

Although Garnacho and Mainoo can fill in the gaps if he's lucky

He def needs to get Mount in over Bruno a couple of times, feel like it would also be good for Bruno to have some real competition. I already forgot Mount was playing for us tbh
