I had no clue amad was on the bench. that's insane. idk how this bayinder guy is doing mentally either, he didnt get a single carabao cup game and ETH begged Onana to stay for fa cup first game instead of playing him.
if we don't play some youth against league 2 opposition, then its like when pogba left for Juve after we started 2 defenders in central midfield over him.
Yep. It's pathetic - ETH will then complain about fixtures and injuries again.
The current revisionism that we were this unbeatable team that Ronaldo came and ruined is absolutely hilarious as well
The romanticism of Ronaldo is also very funny bc we all wanted him out.
Ten Hag did handle that situation well, he’s also had a terrible season and imo might not have what it takes to be manager. Both of those things can be true.
Agree that Amad should have started or at least played yesterday though, ridiculous that he didn’t.

We? - speak for yourself there.
ETH didn't handle it well at all, and time has proven so
Favouritism, terrible man management, 0 tactical ability, he's just a terrible manager.
Reminder:

looking back, I would say any situation that ends up the way it did with ronaldo, is not handled well. it was like a 5/10 outcomes
there are better outcomes that could've occured like working the situation out, handling it outside of press, etc that could've ended in an 8/10.

Would love hear how you think Ten Hag could’ve handled it better.
He was respectful af to Ronaldo, gave him time to grieve during pre-season, and never said a bad word about him. Ronaldo went running to Piers Morgan

Because he's a f***ing hypocrite
Constant jabs in the press, has to prove himself etc
Ronaldo had the bollocks to tell everyone exactly how it is and fragile fans of the club who've spent 8 years pandering to dross like Rashford couldn't stand it and still can't.
Look at what Phelan said. Plenty of bad guys in the tale and Cristiano isn't high up the ranking.

So how should Ten Hag have handled the situation better?
What could he have done?

Not snipping at him in the press for starters, that's an easy one

It’s not sniping though, he wanted more from his player. He did the same thing with Maguire and Maguire upped his performance.
Very different calibre of player ofc and I don’t think you should approach everybody with the same methods, but it’s not like he only did it to Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s ego wouldn’t allow it though and what happened, happened.

Saying he has to prove himself to the club after being the only f***er to put any effort in for 12 months is not wanting more from a player (you've never met before) it's flat out disrespect from the get go
He's got his favourites and his dogshit management has come back to start biting him on the arse. To the surprise of no one paying attention last season
I think most managers would struggle to deal with the following scenarios in the space of 1.5 seasons
Ronaldo-Piers Morgan interview, club legend but not fit for a pressing system
Martial- chronic injuries/ baby momma drama
Antony- seemingly false accusations?
Greenwood- rapist; Glazers attempt to bring him back into squad rather than provide funds for new striker
Sancho- post Arsenal tantrum/ chronic issues in training
De Gea- decline
Rashford- inconsistency/late to training, night clubbing
General wage structure
Forced short term loans over long term signings due to FFP mismanagement from Glazer family
INEOS vs Qatar takeover background speculation
Maguire meme’d scapegoat; club captain at time of arrival
Glazer family ownership
Ronaldo brought it to the press though.
yes that's why im saying, that this was a 5/10 outcome.
it doesn't matter how it happened.
same way how it doesn't matter that ETH brought Sancho to press.
it happened, and we can only judge results.
my only point is there are better outcomes, regardless of who's at fault or not. ultimately ETH is responsible for any player related issue. be it keeping him, playing him, not playing him, style of play, their behaviour on the pitch / off the pitch. buck stops with him in player matters.

I can agree with that to an extent, but think that the players’ reaction to that treatment says more about them and their mindsets than it says about Ten Hag.

EtH kept praising Ronaldo in every interview even tho he was playing absolutely terrible bro. Idk where you get the jabs from. The only one that was crying in the media was Ronaldo

ill take this one KOP
Ronaldo-Piers: doesn't happen with a strong manager with a better relationship with CR. you think CR does this under SAF or Mou? ETH can't treat every player the same, his biggest red flag coming in was his inexperience with stars, and his communication. Dude has no charisma, and no personal approach to anything ive seen.
Martial: he chose Hojlund who is almost as injury prone as Martial. ETH's call.
Antony: spent years with him at Ajax, you know who a person is off the pitch, and he should know his quality on the pitch. Which is of a mid table PL side at best.
Greenwood: this isn't even a situation, the player is unavailable and there has not really been much for ETH to handle, club did it for him. Dodged a bullet imo cause ETH would say the wrong thing anyway.
Sancho: again handled it poorly, should've known the ramifications of his words when he called him out publicly. some people you can get the best out of when talking publicly, others you can't. again goes back to my point about player management. you have to know them personally to manage them, and get the best out of them. ETH is an arrogant dictator with zero charisma. better manage finds a way to get Sancho performing, and absolutely does not tank his value to zero like ETH has. disaster.
Rashford: again, ETH allowed it to get like this. Rashford partied after the city game. ETH probably spoke to him about that. did his message get through? im sure he knew it didnt way before this weekend's club night. poor man management.
Wage structure: sure, its poor, but he doesn't even know who his core is so he has basically held us back by 2 years as we know even less now than we did under Ralf.
