I remember at the time there was talk of the LVG contract lining up with Pep's with Bayern or something but in hindsight I don't think it was ever going to happen. Imagine you have the choice of working with someone you know and have had success with or prime Woodward. Think 2013 was the missed chance, after then I'm starting to think most people in the game with a clue saw the writing on the wall.

Yeah you’re prob right. I remember when Pep announced he was leaving Bayern there were reports that he would love to go to United next cus it was pretty evident LvG wasn’t here to stay. But when news came out Pep was leaving, City fired Pellegrini within like a week or two, even though they were in the top 4 and the season only had a few months left.
