On Casemiro's signing, I have no reason to believe Ten Hag didn't want him - we've always had it reiterated that every United manager has a transfer veto.
In addition, it's been said that transfer was pretty much in the works for a while. Casemiro had told Madrid he wanted another challenge and communicated that to United back in June or so supposedly.
De Jong is what it is. We wanted him, he didn't want to move. Ten Hag didn't see a capable plan B of that exact profile. Eriksen was used as the makeshift piece, and successfully at least until his injury.
I've assumed Mount was viewed as that ball carrier type.
The majority of this current squad has now been moulded by Ten Hag. Of course players will leave and players will be bought. But rebuild is big talk. They should have come into this season better, ready to execute more positive football. Those foundations have somewhere in the nooks of their brains been laid, because we have seen it, I think there just needs to be a concerted effort to commit to it. Yes, survival mode/grind out wins is necessary at points, but it's no guarantee and unsustainable.
Casemiro was a last-minute substitution for De Jong. So it was either Case or nothing, and he’s not a bad player by any measure but not the type of profile ETH was targeting for his style of play. It ultimately changed the shape and way of play of the team. Ofcourse ETH would prefer Case over nothing, but would it have been possible to get a different De Jong substitute player in? I think so, if recruitment and the negotiators were better prepared.
Eriksen was a solution, but it’s a temporal one and not a 1 on 1 replacement for De Jong and his fitness isn’t up to scratch for a regular starter as we’ve seen. Plus playing Eriksen you lose too much in defensive capabilities.
And yes this season has been abysmal despite the ideas they have had instilled in them. I’m more than confident this season is still salvageable. And they will perform to that standard the more they stick to the managers game plan, i’m positive of that as well. But this team is not the longterm solution was my point.
I think making a list of players that need to go would be more extensive than those that ETH would need to stick around, hence a major rebuild.
Total current squad players: 30
Players to keep for the longterm rebuild (as it’s looking rn):
Who am i missing?
Perhaps Dalot if he can reach the levels of the first half of previous season?
Mount is not a 6 nor a ball carrier type to build up play from the back. He links up the midfield with the attack and sets up chances like Bruno, albeit he’s more systematic.
And AWB isn’t really the ball retaining overlapping player that ETH needs for a winger such as Antony.
Perhaps Antony with the right technical players set-up around him?
That’s 12 out of 30
And mind you, City have atleast one A and one potent B-team ready, so 22 players who can all slot into the team and execute the preferred style of play of the coach. This is also the reason Brighton perform so well, they have a very well rounded and recruited squad that is perfectly balanced.
United have 10 at best.
this is hilarious
Edit: lol it’s a skit
this is hilarious
I love brits tbh, y'all are so classy. having lads as a daily word would be amazing
also they should say that's a skit, if I see it on site ike here without going into twitter to check comments, would have no clue what real VAR audio is or isn't.

Antony, rashford, lindelof, dalot, onana
Jackson scored more goals in this one game than all of our attackers combined have this season
That's jokes bc he's pretty terrible
Spurs played with more confidence two men down than we have all season.
facts. I wish we played anything close to Spurs like ever. they played better losing 4-1 than we have in 10 years.

he can't be injured while sitting on the bench for 1 month. ETH has dumped him
