Godard was a film critic, not a journalist spewing liberal propaganda for a career

Even if he did not attend film school or whatever, he dedicated himself to learning and discussing about film.

Also, Godard was never hired to write Superman. He made very small films and proved he deserved to be a filmmaker. Coates hasn't proven in any way he deserves to be writing genre films. He is relying on corporations to back him up because he likely wouldn't be able to do so himself.
