oh I don't mind the impression itself just the way people structure their thoughts & writing now gets very internet brained. even the critics suffer from this now a la Alphonse. everything has to be a pop culture reference in lieu of another reference etc
nts.live/shows/pure broadcast starting soon
four hour ambient takeover, recordings from Cafรฉ del Mar in Ibiza.
video captures from the event here instagram.com/p/DPbs3pgDJmo
Grand Voyage / Torus / Malibu / Femi sets in that order

I dunno if you'd describe me as an internet-brained writer I'd take it as a compliment ngl. we literally all are internet-brained talking about internet-hyped music on the internet. so to be able to reflect that in writing is a skill.
I will say in this instance I thought JMK's references were off, there's like some correlation there but it's not super insightful into what makes Malibu's music interesting at all. a good reference can definitely paint a reader a picture or give them context to intrigue them to check out something they haven't listened to yet.
but yh even if I only agree with less than half of their takes JMK and Alphonse are def two of the best critics we have rn imo
Malibu curated a Spotify playlist of influences for Silk, such a good listen
omg Vanities by Charlotte Gainsbourg
that's so real her title is at least in part reference to IRM, one of my fav albums oat.
didnโt know there was a thread for this. listened on a flight back home last week, very lush

I trust your particular music takes but I'm ngl Alphonse seems to be a Drakeophile contrarian. I wouldn't trust his music judgment if my life depended on it
Klein and Malibu on the front page today, my european ambient girls won
(new Klein is the dark ambient flip coin to this tbh)

he was cynical about both sides in the beef but I rly dunno where u got it from he's a drakeophile lmao
"Itโs a miserable song. He sounds washed and exiled. To think this is the same guy who was once just a goofy Canadian who wore his feelings on his sleeve. But those days are so gone and the fun has been missing from his music since โToosie Slideโ anyway. This is the fall from grace of the rap star of the last 15 years, taking his entire era down with him. Even if he gets back up, and goes back to churning out pop hits, his wordsโ whether truth, lies, or somewhere in betweenโfeel so meaningless. And, in rap, once you lose that, you have nothing. Congrats, Kendrick, on your crown. But that feels worthless at this point."

Throwing a little criticism Drakes way doesnโt necessarily make him not a Drizzler. I am basing this off of 10-15 bad impressions dude has given me. He hasnโt shown me a good take tbh
