He's the least focused on music he's ever been in his career, sadly.

nah, its the most aware he has been on the impact of his voice and his music

and while it may the least adventurous sonically, the message is the strongest it has ever been

He just don't care about music too much anymore man. The fashion, the land ownership, the family man s*** is all great but music is on the back burner.

It’s the perfect follow up to TLOP

TLOP is him struggling to accept his higher purpose, still trend chasing, trying to be conceptual, innovative and spiritual at the same damn time. It led to him to the hospital

This is him accepting his spirituality and actively fighting against his demons, and not allowing the pursuit of acclaim and acceptance from the hip hop and music community misdirect him from his higher calling. Jesus Is King is statement more than anything. And it’s lovely

he is putting more emphasis on the impact of his words than the color of his sounds

while that might be different than his previous works, it does not mean he doesnt care. its actually the opposite. he cares so much that he feels the need to talk about jesus every other bar & and not please your ear with a drum pattern (closed on sunday, use this gospel first half)

its just the next iteration of ye. you can hate it, but you cannot deny its power.

Still an extremely exciting era, if we include all the live stuff but this is just true, most chaotic era. Album literally mixed post-release and people are talking about this era being "focused", I would say that's the wrong term

Oh yeah it's interesting times for sure, he's all over the place lately though. Maybe it's all part of his plan. I dunno.

I would say his most focused era was probably CD/LR and MBDTF. He released two of the greatest albums of all time within two years so I'd go for CD/LR I guess.

I'd say MBDTF, dude basically exiled himself for 6 months or so to make that album. Probably a tie though really, he must've been working on music nonstop in 2003-2005.

yea, he was extremely focused at appeasing the masses through music at that time. incredible collaborations and attention to detail. but he was soley focused on creating the greatest rap album and film to accompany it. where did that leave him? the critical acclaim wasnt enough to prevent him from going into a dark place a la yeezus era(a fire era for us as consumers, but not for him as a person)

this era is more powerful than that era cause he understands he can do it again, yet he is actively fighting against it. his is abandoning his role as an entertainer, and accepting his role as a mentor, a role model and a man of god.

    not a god.

the world would be a better place if 42 year olds acted like role models instead of chasing youthful pleasures and attention

This was the last time Kanye was one with the people.

Y’all really believe the man that delayed his album 3 times in one year, not announcing the delay til after the announced release date, is now more focused than ever before? Come on

what was he doing outside of music?

I don't know if I agree with OP but people who think Kanye's lost focus are missing his point. He's just not focusing on music or whatever it is they want him to. He's clearly still very driven and creatively focused, and he manages to give us a great album (who cares if it's not as good as MBDTF, we already got MBDTF), some of the best mainstream hip hop live shows of recent years with Sunday Service and a beautiful imax collaboration with a true legend like Nick Knight.

    What a GOAT

In the TCD/LR era he was making music for other GOATs too, he gave Common a whole album of beats, that's gotta be the most focused era musically. It probably amounts of 4 or 5 albums worth of classic music. It's crazy to think about - 6 if you include Late Orchestration, which I think more stans should given it's one of the greatest live albums of our era imo

Everything he said he wanted to do in the yeezus era he is doing. As I said in a thread earlier he’s an artist in every sense of the word. He’s just creating and trying to make the world better.

He’s venturing into territory no other artist/musician has entered before.

It amazes me how niggas haven’t learned the lesson. Y’all laughed when he said he was Leo and needed someone to be the Medici family and back him. Adidas stepped up to the plate and the rest is history

I was watching the yeezus interview on breakfast club n thought the same exact thing mans is in the future fr

I'm with you OP, but he loses me when he attributes his tax return to finding God

  • I made a thread on KTT1 saying that this could be the best era considering the weekly Sunday services all year , the interviews , album , and movie in literal theaters and I got slandered and called a new fan (DF era stan) lmao.
