Ramsay proves herself a modern 🐐 once again with this. couldn't have been a more triggering watch for me after cutting an ex out of my life two weeks ago after another insane situation she put me in which was the last straw in making me realize what she's doing to me is literally narcissistic abuse.

inspired my first lb review in a long time

Need to make time to see this

For those who have seen it, what’s the pacing like?

it's an oppressively silent, torturous watch.

    I gave it 5 stars

This was definitely interesting. I know it had something to do with how having a baby can change women and then I think all of the animal stuff was to show for how advanced we’ve become we’re still primitive but I still feel like I missed a lot of the themes. I hope I can find a video or article explaining it better. I know it’s based on a book

Either way it was a very pretty movie

I did not expect this be so funny. Really taps into JLaw and Pattinson with that. Nice to see Lynne still be so rigorous and artful while having a lot of fun. Loved the day for night shots.

I'm glad I didn't see this in the theater because I feel I would've been the only one laughing.

That character is played a lot straighter in the book. They made him such a rat and it really gives the story a new dimension when you still have to see everything from his perspective.

I was curious about the book. Any major differences besides Pattinson’s character?

It's set in rural France instead of Montana and the character is a transplant from Argentina instead of New York. The broad strokes are the same as far as the plot goes, but the book really excels with its prose. The husband is different, the other man plays a bigger part, and I was waiting for a different dash of magic realism at the end. But both are good in a way where it doesn't feel like a repeat. They're both really propulsive though. Very stream of consciousness.

That's from the book. I don't think Lynne directed this at all like Cassavetes. And people would probably think more of the film if she did? She gets two generational actors and cuts their performances into an anxiety dream. Funnier too

no, I love Lynne not knocking this, enjoy a lot of what she did with this, I get the being trapped with a person who feels trapped yadyada don’t think it was totally compelling though & imo pat’s character was somewhat part of the scenery, but that’s just one watch I’ll hit it again probably next month

Just watched this and Jennifer Lawrence's performance was phenomenal. Having that said, there were parts that dragged and it was difficult to tell what was real or not at times (this was both entertaining and frustrating.. Like did the condom box in the glove compartment really end up being a different brand every time she opened it?). I thought the ending really nailed it though.

I'd give this a 7/10. It was shocking at times, hilarious at others and overall devastating. One of the scenes that hit me the hardest was when Grace came back from the mental institution and baked her own "Welcome Home Mommy" cake

It wasn't perfect, but I can't wait to see what Lynne Ramsay does next.
