drill music is a product of poverty, oppression and gang violence
zion is considered the kingdom of heaven.
drill music wouldnt exist in zion. thats why we get all these strings, brass and horns on the album. religious/spiritual production. while he does talk about the topics but he hits harder on this type production. imagine him doing that over uk drill beats. wouldnt work

That’s the only part I won’t give him a cop out
He originally said “drill music in Zion” in a freestyle meaning chiraq drill music
He changed the meaning abstract view of it afterwards
But yeah I’m not surprised people expected drill beats he could of just named it Music in Zion and accomplished the same thing with the title
Aside from the matrix thing, there were also interviews and articles where he explained that a major theme of the album is about drill music in Chicago, and drill rappers dying too much.
I guess it's confusing for people that weren't following the rollout at all, but he did mention multiple times that it wouldn't be drill music (but instead themes about drill music), so not really on him.

ON FAUXNEM is a f***ing gem, but Kiosk, Auto Boto, title track, Seattle are great too. Lupe is one of the greatest minds to ever bless this beautiful genre.

And after listening to On Faux Nem. While I do like it as a closer, I still prefer Mural Jr. as the BEST closer on a Lupe album.
This is a GREAT edition to his discography. Is it his best work?
Hard for me to say it now, but for now no. That title still belongs (IMO) to Drogas WAVE.

It does mean drill music in Chicago. He's speaking about the damage it has done to Chicago.

i love drogas wave but this is a more cohesive and concise album
i also enjoy the live instrumentation on this more.

Music in Zion is the equivalent of calling his debut Food and Drink. It doesn't capture any duality, only idealism, which doesn't reflect either album.
