honestly it’s sort of up to this site to just not engage with obvious bait if we’re keeping it a buck
there isn’t much that can be done other than outright banning the embeds and/or instating some arbitrary character limit etc.
Definitely but easier said than done - it’s a problem with every social network on the planet
I think subtle systems to help balance the scale are useful but definitely do need to be reined in to not just be completely shifting things either which way

rvimaybe there could be something to do with reply count or something tied to an account in the future system. just some way to differentiate between the users who actually engage in discussion. not like some reddit type karma s*** tho. S probably thinking of this already though

We actually want more threads is the thing
The problem is that these are the threads that get the most engagement and provide the least value
Idk how you change that without more moderation or added functionality. Those don't ever seem to be in the cards. Look at Mallard Duck's thread history rn man.
We've floated changing the genre tags into something useful since that seems easy to implement. Social Media vs New Music vs Serious or something like that. As is, it's just a game of farming engagement and they just copy whoever is doing that on Twitter already.
You can't downvote it, you can't sage it- if you call them a dumbass you bump it. Interactions are all that matter to them, and you're saying that's what you want.
