This is coming from a PhD student. It’s really not a big deal! Worst case you get put on academic probation but if you work hard you’ll be fine. Just retake the freaking class and connect with the motivated students in the class and go to office hours. Also definitely talk with your academic advisor and make a plan! You got into really good college, might as well finish. You have plenty of time to pull up your gpa.

My other thread was actually in my op for #2. It wasn’t my cousin who plagiarized my work but another student who shared the same tutor with me. The tutor taught us the same way which causes us to get flagged.

speak with an academic advisor ASAP.
if a professor is not responding and you have documentation, you should get that sorted out immediately and speak with someone in person. if "multiple deans" are ignoring you then there is a serious problem with the school's admin

I compiled all of the evidence together with pictures and the assoc dean of cs still concluded that I collaborated with another student. I told them multiple times we shared the same tutor but they aren’t listening.

I would Transfer to a community college instead where you’ll save money and get the same education, and a fresh start until you’re ready for Uni again.

I heard NOVA CC is a pretty good community college but idk how far away that is from you though.

I transferred from a cc in fall

@op have you thought about transferring to the business school? if you like cs maybe try econ & math

If I wanted to change to business & Econ id have to apply to a different school within UVA and the application process is competitive.

Thank you. This is exactly what my mom said. I just feel like there were a lot of things out of my control. I hired multiple tutors last semester to avoid this.

Seems like you need a semester off to reevaluate where you want to go for uni and for what major

My only option is cs because I can’t think of any other careers. My mom suggested picking a different major and then going to a different school for cs because UVA cs program isn’t the best.

I would still take a semester off, that will give you enough time to evaluate what uni’s are viable options, get finances in order, etc. and also I think you need it for your mental health, i dont think you should rush to pick a school, even if you know you want to do CS

OP, retake the class. I know it seems like a tough road ahead of you but this degree will pay dividends for your life down the road. Trust me.

People may disagree with me but changing degrees should be a last resort unless the program you're transferring to is very similar. You might fall into a rut of constantly changing programs until you just eventually drop out regardless. Stick with it for now.

If you really, really need to change degrees, then yes, you can go into business with Accounting / MIS / Finance but you will have to completely rebuild your understanding from ground zero, and it won't fix your motivation. Might even worsen your desire to finish.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to finish in 4 years. Everyone's journey is different. My 4 year degree took me wayyy longer but I stuck with it
