The lighter tones r preferred through all latin america this colorism and classim is present on all the countries from the tip of mexico's map to cuba to the bottom of chile.
Its a terrible side effect of colonization in the conscious of latinoamerica
seeing ppl that have a darker skin tone bc of stronger native or black descent being treated bad is terrible cuz thats the roots of our nations. How can u praise it and look down on it in the same time?

nah not like that bru i mean its something in the mentality, like ppl subconsciously think white is better, even the darker skin tone people tend to think that bc of the colonized mindset its not 'jealousy' or anything like that, its praising whiteness due to the impact of colonization

there was something in latinoamerica called 'mejorar la raza' which came from the spanish n portuguese. basically their plan was to f*** the natives n the blacks they brought here from africa til their children were white in the generations of the future. that didnt work out obviously most of us are of mixed blood and we aint white but theres still this f***ed up history haunting us n so u can see this colorism/classism of like ppl with darker skin tones being kept poor and underrepresented n the higher classes of our coutnries still being largely white
