Monk is 3 lol. Not even close
Trade THT + a first for a difference maker and Nunn comes back healthy + we healthy for the playoffs = we winning the chip 😤
He’s made mistakes, but let’s not act like he didn’t put together a very good supporting cast for the championship run. Thinking he has a move up his sleeve isn’t unbelievable considering the rumors of us dangling THT, Nunn, and the 1st. Once again, considering what the Clippers just gave away for what they got. It’s not crazy to think we can get an impact player for our assets. It won’t be for a lack of trying if we don’t get anyone
This season has been ugly af but watching Lebron still be greatness is incredible.

in a season full of s*** let’s give a little credit to some of the bright spots
Bron = Greatest 19th season EVER
AD = since he been back he’s been ELITE
Malik = what an offensive machine
Carmelo = inconsistent on the road but man when he’s on he’s on fire
Stanley = his hustle and effort on defense is contagious
Reaves = does all the little things and makes the right play most of the time. Undrafted gem that could be a good role player for years to come

Clippers were able to do that because having Ballmer means you have fewer financial restrictions/more move flexibility than most teams including the Lakers who have never been a team to go deep into the tax and definitely aren't a team that's going beyond the 15 mil tax line that basically acts as a hard cap for most teams
Those rumors been out for a while and there's no real traction on them because 1) while the first is a premium asset (depending on the protections), Nunn is just salary filler and THT isn't a positive asset (isn't a good player rn and his contract has no upside for teams that trade for him, either he continues to not be good and opts into his player option after next year or if he does have a good season next season it's already time to cash out on him)
Even the salaries on this team make it difficult to get anyone because it's just big ass maxes and vet minimums for the most part
Plus it's not just Pelinka cooking in the back and lot of those cooks are terrible (Jeanie, Rambis, LeGM etc)

Huh
Lakers are deep into luxury tax, they have a top 5 team salary
Even Blazer fans would say THT Nunn and a 1st is better than the trash the clippers offered. Only reason Portland made that trade was to essentially not take salary back for next season

Word, so they're deeper in than I thought right now that's on me for not checking the current bill and just going off the usual
You're right in that the THT package would be a better return but trades aren't just about assets, financial flexibility on both ends is useful and the Lakers don't have any and can't offer any
To me you should always value players/picks over tax but Portland didn't see it that way (this year is also going to have one of the biggest tax payouts to non tax teams on record, ten mil+ , because of all the teams that are over so that definitely influenced the Blazers and a lot of other teams making moves this year)
Clippers have way more of that than the Lakers because of Ballmer and that's why that trade/scenario isn't comparable imo
